Sammy?

I post this topic every month or so, and nothing has come up to dispute this. Sammy has been awefully quiet as of last, anyone care to think he is lirking around 5150? I don't think that can be disputed he is isn't. Thought?

I don't know. It pretty much sounds like Sammy's over Van Halen. He spent 11 great years with them and now he's doing his own thing. Right now he's probably just relaxing at home with his wife and kids and thinking about the future.

I think he's starting up his tour again soon. He's announcing new dates.

I think Dan's right, Sammy is probably happy where he's at right now.

Sammy won't come back until VH gets the reunion with Dave out their system.

I don't ever see Sam returning to VH, other than to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. He's happy, doing his own thing, making records he wants to make. No pressure. He is way over VH.

maybe, maybe not. I think Ed's health is still a big issue and me thinks that VH as a band isn't really a priority right now, who knows.

I know that I for one would love to see Sam back with the boys, but I ain't holding my breath.

I have nothing against Sammy !!

Right now there is too much bitterness between the Van Halen bros. and Sam.

Sammy should remain the Red Rocker and Van Halen should be Van Halen !!

Seriously doubt a Sam return would create much interest. Look at the response VH received when it was thought Sam was fired to bring Dave back. I suspect they would sell just a few more than VHIII if Sam returned.

Now IMO though if they would have went on a 5 year hiatus in 96 without all the DLR/Cherone stuff and never produced VHIII, a VHagar return would be welcomed back with open arms.

The boys created the DLR demand and now must live with the consequences.

I definately think that there is a possibility that Sammy and VH are talking right now!!! I think that it would be awesome if Sammy and VH re-united!

I will never ever give up hope that Sammy will return to Van Halen someday. [img]smilies/cool.gif[/img]

You very well may be right, but the vast majority of fans will not accept this. If they wanted Sammy they should have kept Sammy. They have always insisted they fired Sammy whereas Dave supposedly left on his own. Getting Sammy back would be settling for second best. They have done shown that they prefered Dave by working with him last summer and by dumping Sammy for Dave in '96. If they didn't why do it to begin with? A Sammy return will be nothing. It will be as if he never really left. They were in a decline during those last few years.

Dave will never revive VH to past successes either, but he will create a major initial stir.

I don't think they dumped Sammy for Dave. I think things were going downhill between Ed and Sam anyway and it just culminated in the events of '96. I don't think the infamous Father's day call between Ed and Sam was meant to be a firing initially. I think Ed was frustrated and called Sam to vent and the conversation went way wrong. I feel the band had contemplated having DLR sing a couple of new songs for BOV I. Once Sammy was fired/quit the band suddenly found itself in need of a singer. Since the conversations with Dave seemed to be going well, Ed advocated "baby steps" just to see if it would work out in the long run. I really don't think the band counted on losing Sammy and having to find a permanent replacement. I think that explains why they originally wanted Mitch Malloy, settled for Gary, and are now without a vocalist. I think they tried to work it out with Dave in '96 purely out of necessity.
