I WAS VERY HAPPY WHEN I LISTENED "BALANCE" BECAUSE,THE LYRICS AND THE MUSIC WERE A VAN HALEN VERY DIFFERENT, AND THEY NEEDED A CHANGE, AND THE ALBUM WAS LISTENED IN THE WORLD.

No other Sam era VH album even comes close to being as good as Balance. The album has a soul that I feel is lacking in the other Sam VH records.

The best Sam era album hands down. That album is up there with Fair Warning for me. Balance was a mature VH. They were growing and changing and I'll always be wondering what their next would have sounded like.

On Balance, VH is mature and stuff, but they're still ready to kick your ass. And they make me feel like kicking some ass myself. The best album ever made!!!!!!

As an open question, Balance did rock,It was the Hagar (1984) CD similar in ways cause they achieved the sound I took a while to achieve a 'balance sound. That CD is my fav hagarVH Aftershock,Dont tell me,Amsterdam that riff still tweaks my ear.BOOM!

The most impressive thing about this album was it showed how far they had come musically. They really were "gelling". They could probally put out alot of songs at this time. It was almost like they knew what the other member was thinking...

Not one of the good Sam-VH albums. Not that great at all.
(But the best 'sounding' album, in a sonic sense)
"The Seventh Seal" (boring......yawn)
"Don't Tell me" (great song, however, Sam's high pitched singing on this one gets irritating sometimes)
"Can't Stop Lovin' You" (whimping out. No growth here. Just a sappy love song, like Journey, whom VH used to slam for tear-jerker tunes in the Dave days. Catchy, but it's a tear-jerker.)
"Strung Out" (What the hell is that? Crap.)
"Doin Time" (Great. Awesome. It's Al. I love this one 'cause I'm a drummer.)
"Baluchitheirum" (Good instrumental. However, it sounds like a Joe Satriani rip off at times)
"Not Enough" (crap, just crap. Again, whimping out. No growth here.)
"Amsterdam" (the best song on 'Balance'. One of the few reasons I'll still listen to this album. A pure Dave-VH type of song. Somewhat like "Drop Dead Legs".)
"Take Me Back (Deja Vu) (Crap. THE worst song from this album. Growth you say? How about growing in terms of making crap!)
"Feelin'" (Rather boring when it starts out. Very slow and uninspiring. However, when it gets fast, the song gets better. Then it just gets at a hault again. Not a good song to end the album with. It kinda ends with a whimper and not a bang.)
'Balance' is a different VH album. Some songs are good, others are not. It became apparent since FUCK that VH started to write its share of good songs with really bad ones.

All in all, their best effort since 5150. Best sound since the raw early days, which carried over to the new BOV1 tunes. There were no lazy songs (lazy like Poundcake, or Black and Blue - simple cheesey songs for an easy hit). My favorite is "Aftershock" - Ed just tears it up in that one...
It was the first Hagar era CD that I bought. They had finally beaten me down to the point where I had sort of accepted Sammy.
Sort of.
Then they had to go and record with Dave again, which killed it for me!

It’d be fun to see them claim loss of earnings…VH have done more to achieve that than anyone. I also suspect every single one of us who has listened to this is even more hyped up for an official...
