Aftershock

When I saw them on the Balance tour they opened with Right Now. A cool tune, but not a good opening song; either 7th Seal or Aftershock would have been much better choices.

Aftershock isn't my favorite song on Balance, but it's cool. The intro sounds great; I think Eddie is playing those false harmonics.

This is song IS my favorite off of Balance.
One of the few classic-VH sounding songs that they did with Sammy. Of the four shows I saw that tour, they either opened up with 'Seventh Seal' or 'Right Now'. I think
'Aftershock' would have been a better choice.

The tapped harmonics in the intro kick so much ass. The lyrics are cool to and you cant forget about the solo. my favorite off balance.

actually this song's introduction sounds a lot like megadeths song off peace sells but whos buying, i think black friday.

The intro is great. But what no one takes notice of is that it wouldn't be quite as cool without Alex's subtle cymbal work.

Eddie's first solo on Aftershock, the mini one right before the bridge (

), is one of those timeless sounds, almost like you've always known it or something. There's nothing really complicated about it and maybe that's why it's so effective.

Again, Alex's drumming is great, especially at the end.

One of my favorite songs on the album as well. I think they should have released that one as a single. VERY underrated tune, IMO.

Finally Aftershock gets some praise!! One of my favorites in the Sammy era and some of Ed's best guitar work. Definitely the most underrated song.

Hell, I don't over analyze it, I just know Aftershock came on strong and took over the spot of my favorite song off of Balance.

I dig the lyrics in several places (not to mention the guitar work in the middle of the song).

Gotta admit, its probably my favorite song Sammy recorded with VH. The harmonics on the intro are false. I love the subtle flanger effect he uses right after the tapped false harmonics. The first solo is just sick! Reminds me of Eddie talking about Clapton. You know, when he said some folks can just play 100 notes in one measure in a solo, but it ain't nothing compared to whne Clapton just floors you with one note! Kinda like that. We know Ed could blister us, but instead he tries to get the maximum out of each individual note and knock us over like that!
