Thanks to Napster, I'm listening to TWILY. I actually got chills the first 30 seconds of the song.
Vocally, however, its obviuos its just not working with Gary. The music is great, and a great sound too. The vocals just don't sound good at all.
Here's my question: Can the boys use this same music for the new album with Roth, and just have him put new lyrics, melody, chorus over it? Or would they be getting into some legal ranglings with Cherone?
It would be a shame not to hear this music on an album some day. I'm sure it has the potential to be a huge hit if they worked on it a bit more.

I agree with you, the vocals on that song are terrible!
I also would like to hear that song re-recorded, since it wasn't released by the band I think it is possible that might happen!

They know how readily available that song is in the bootleg world, so I'd say they'll never go near that song again now that Gary is gone. It was supposed to have been redone for the follow-up to III, so obviously it was a tune they believed in.
I like the song, and the vocal on it.

TWILY is overall a pretty good song, but there aren't any Gary Cherone songs that are perfect because he's singing. I think it should have been on VH3 and released as the first single.

Yeah, it's a nice song...The middle reminds me of TOTW...Gary's vocals did blow, though. I don't understand why he sounded so bad. On tour, he sounded okay, but his voice is a lot more scratched up than it was on the early Extreme albums.

The lyrics aren't bad! I wonder what Led Zeppelin would think when they hear the first words to it.(because of their song Dazed and Confused)

I agree the most of you..GREAT music, terrible vocals. When I first heard it, I was so excited, but when Gary started singing, I felt queasy. My guess is that the version we heard would NOT have been the one used had it been put on 3. Those vocals were beyond anemic; more so than the other tracks on 3.

I have to agree that I was also disappointed by Gary's performance on the song...It could have been a winner with more effort...

I love the song, and the vocals work for me. I thought I read somewhere that Gary wasn't all pleased with the sound of the vocals either. Anyone else come across that information. I know I read that, because my initial impression was that the song wasn't included because Gary wanted to redo the vocals.

Didn't Eddie push Gary beyond his vocal range? I thought I heard that once.

It's just Sammy improvising. It's not from an existing song/cover piece. Might actually have been a lyric chunk Sam had ready to go. Sounds like he was not expecting the riff that Ed launched into...
