I forgot how great this album is! Put it in this morning and listened to it twice. Revives the desire for VH and Roth to reconcile and tour together again! Just when you think you've come to terms with the situation, accepted the fact that it's never gonna happen... You hear songs like Runnin with the Devil, Aint Talkin Bout Love, Atomic Punk and so on and you just can't help but hope...Oh and I want to win the lottery too...

Whassamatta U? Scared to post in the Songs and Albums forum?
BTW, I believe you were referring to VHI, right?
That said, I've been jamming this one a lot lately myself. "Show Your Love", and everything on the "second side" ** get a ton of play in my car deck, especially "Atomic Punk".
**Author's note: "second side" refers to vinyl or cassette releases, for those of you that think the first music was recorded on CD.

The songs you mentioned are found on Van Halen I, which album were you referring to?
On the topic of VH II (since that is the name of this thread) I have said this before and I will say it again, I think VH II is THE most underrated album in the VH catalogue. It ALWAYS gets overlooked by it's older brother VH I.
I think Van Halen II is a DAMN fine record and a true masterpiece. Van Halen's debut may have been a showcase for Eddie Van Halen's guitar work, but Van Halen II was a showcase for the strength of the entire band as a unit!
(and the DRUMS on that record: TRULY amazing!!)
In fact I am gonna go out on a limb here (people will scream blashpemy but here goes) Often times I find myself reaching for Van Halen II to listen to, way before grabbing Van Halen I !!!!!!"Sorry about the mess..."<br /><br />~Han Solo Episode IV

Oops. Better add to the list then.
Anyway - back on track here -
Both VHI and VHII get me reminiscing and wishing for the old days more than any of the other albums.
I guess it has to do with the fun atmosphere that comes through with those recordings, before the fighting and anger crept in with WACF, and then peaked during Fair Warning (although that's still my favorite album).
Makes you wish they could all be buds again and have fun playing music instead of ego politics.

Van Halen lost that "sound" after Roth left in 85. Bring back the left speaker guitar, the Roth howl, the harmonies, the good times.......
Van Halen I is where it all began !!

As for VHI (or is the thread about VHII?), it's simple. The album is a Rock Classic. Gotta be in the top 5 of all time in my book. VH's heaviest stuff. Not a weak song on the album."I'm the opposite of Bill Cosby. Diamond Dave always gets your approval." (DLR)

Is this one of those George Lucas "Star Wars"/"Indiana Jones" things, 'cause it sounds to me like y'all are talking about the album Van Halen, and neither my vinyl or CD has a "I" affixed to the title! (Has there ever been a band that named their first album "I", I wonder?)
Still one of the most amazing albums ever released - takes me back a long way. Why did it have to be over so soon?If you like what you see here, please click here to donate!
