Which album with Dave is their worst?
I'll go with Diver Down, on the reason that many of the songs were not theirs. So to me that makes it their weakest effort.

Diver Down's my favorite album, so I can't pick that. I'll go with Women And Children First.

Achievements:
Hands down, Diver Down,
This was a "Dave" album as opposed to an "Eddie" album. Covers, goofy stuff, it smacks of DLR's influence.
I think Ed has even mentioned that he hated doing those songs, especially the covers.
Of course, it still has 2 absolute gems--Full Bug and Little Guitars- but overall it's a yawner.

Diver Down is still a great album but I feel it's their weakest with Roth. Too many covers although the originals were good. I don't like Where Have All The Good Times Gone and Happy Trails. Too sappy.

Yeah, I was gonna say, What the ...?! But, who knows. Maybe he's serious. Anyway, I guess my answer would have to be a toss-up between DD and WACF. Although, I really look at them as the "least best". I still love them, I just love all the other ones that much more! "When I first heard "Runnin' With The Devil" on the radio, I was stunned and found myself dizzy, walking through my high school hallways thinking, "What was THAT?!"
Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello
"There is no heir to the throne of Eddie Van Halen. Nobody sits on that throne. Nobody takes that throne. Here's why it's different with Eddie: when a great guitar player passes, you just move on to another, right? But in this case, Eddie wasn't just a 'guitar player'. We're talking about a guy who changed culture and how we play guitar. He was like an alien coming in and fucking everything up so much that even the legends beforehand are like, 'Okay .. what is happening here? What sorcery is this?'" -Nuno Bettencourt

WACF easy. One or two solid songs with lots of filler in the middle. Loss of Control is probably the most horrid song ever conceived of by Van Halen. Covers or not, Diver Down is at least a solid listen from beginning to end.

BOV1. They coulda easily missed off most of the second half of that.
Nah, it's gotta be Diver Down, but it's a tight run thing. The covers aren't that bad...It'll all end in beers...

I dig DD.
The covers don't bother me today as much as they once did. I take them for what they are. With the exception of "Dancing In The Streets" I think they work. And the original material is cool.
Having said that, though, I do think DD is the weakest of the first six albums.

Hard to say for sure, but judging by Holmes’ more 70s glam rock look, I’d hazard a guess that it might have been JUST prior to the ‘Women and Children First’ sessions or just after he got the guitar...
