I was happily suprised by this video.
It has helped me connect a few dots in the van halen saga.

Dave's live show for "Eat 'Em and Smile" was intense. Very much Dave in control. Very much Dave's show. It was great.

Watch this video and you will see Dave being Dave. His actions are not "Schtick", oh no, but thought out actions, well, yes.

Dave was a powerful front man. It shows so much in this video, only because the band wasn't Van Halen. Dave's presence was too strong for his Eat Em and Smile band. And his show was actually quiet nasty at time. In a good way. The middle of panama had me laughing so hard, and blushing red.
The thing is, the show was set up great, but the band could just not pull it off. They just couldn't play a decent old van halen song. (musically, not speaking of daves addition, dave saved it all) Steve Vai is a great player, but he just isn't the same player as eddie. And the way Vai played the Van Halen songs, damn he was a sloppy player, but he just doe3sn't have the eddie feel. And hey, this man shakes his ass in a mUCH more feminin way than Gary Cherone EVER did.
Anyways, it was a great video. The New songs sounded great live, the music they wrote. It was powerful. And let me just say, Dave's lyrics were wonderful. This man is a poet.
It's amazing that people consider his words to be garbage.

I have more thoughts, but just am tired of typing...
