If Roth is back and VH become Mighty again, do you think his solo back catalogue will be given a boost saleswise.
I think with the massive exposure, and people seeing Dave in the limelight again, it is bound to benefit his solo work.
I would love to see WB. re-release ALAE and YFLM, (I wanna see Dave get a Platinum Award for ALAE, that album deserved so much more).
Also wouldn't it be great if WB. picked up the DLR Band album and gave it the exposure it deserves, (that CD fuckin' smokes).

Any kind of exposure for Dave is sure to move some of his solo work. And it certainly would be nice to be able to go into a record store and find A Little Ain't Enough and Your Filthy Little Mouth.
Also it would be great to have WB remaster Eat Em and Smile.

There'll a risidual sales increase for EEAS and Skyscraper, but probably not by much. People'll see the new album, and the remasters right there with it in the rack.
ALAE is really Dave's masterpiece, but it'll never be widely recognized as such. Too many people are too stuck on EEAS to really consider ALAE.

I think alot of it is perception.
#1. A Little Ain't Enough didn't sell as well as Dave's two previous albums.
#2. Steve Vai was such a wonderful guitar compliment to Dave after leaving EVH behind. With Vai gone, I think people percieve that DLR needed a guitar monster in order to make great music.
Oh well, for me, A Little Ain't Enough is like Fair Warning. It's not as well known, but it's the best.

...and here's another. Hopefully WB will re-release this album so that others that haven't discovered it might get the opportunity while the remasters are selling.

disagree on ALAE
i think it does rock, and has some really catchy creative lyrics.
what i cant stand about some of the songs are the chorus's (is that proper english?)
..baby's on fire.....
..shoot it shoot it shoot it c'mon baby put your shot on me... (sound like a bad brian johnson lyric, dave could have done much better)
...the hammerhead shark blah blah blah...
(like bad quiet riot lyrics)
...good lookin here i go.. call me 40 below... (ouch, can we say Cinderella quality?)
and the worst example:
..last call, and i dont need no drink..last call, could be later than you think... (brian johnson, once again)
..its showtime (the whole song lyrics) are lame as well. i dont like rock stars writing about a show. reminds me of AFU, which is another example of great music ruined by poor lyrics.
dont get me wrong, besides the chorus on the above songs, i think the disc kicks some serious a$$. 'drop in the bucket' is amongst my top 5 dave songs ever and 'lady luck' and 'tell the truth' are up there. also really like 'a little aint enough'
i just dont think this disc stands up to EEAS or SS. if dave had better chorus's it would have probably been right up there. this is also the ONLY disc that i think dave did a poor job on the lyrics/chorus. i put him right up there with jim morrison as far as best rock lyricists. this disc just doesnt do it for me.
IMHO

I just picked up EEAS and YFLM at a used CD store when I was on vacation last week, which complete's my DLR collection. Haven't had a real chance to digest them yet, meaning no comments on that.
But I'd wager that DLR being back in VH will, for the most part, have no affect on his solo albums. WB will keep the ones out of print out of print, and they won't touch EEAS or Skyscraper unless there is a strong grass-roots demand for remastering (hell, especially SS, that thing is SOFT). As for picking up the WaWaZat label... I doubt WB would have any interest in a little known, little sold DLR Band album when they're busy pushing Van Halen.
About the only former member that can hope for residual benefits is Sammy, since people will either pick up the albums he sang on and want to hear more from him or with his genre of music popular again, radio stations will pick up Ten13 and start playing Sammy again.
I'd only expect the albums bearing the name "Van Halen" to be boosted, though.

But I thought that WB. took ALAE and YFLM out of print "coz Dave wouldn't do video's for the two new Halen songs (or was this made up by DLR Newsdesk).
I'm thinkin' myself that WHEN DLR becomes the biggest Rock Star in the world again that his solo albums are bound to start selling more, and when WB. see this they will re-release the two albums out of print.
Dave could also have it in his new contract that WB. have to reissue these albums, I know that Dave isn't as popular as he once was (yet), but he is still a major player in any re-union plans, and therefore is in a strong position.
The only reason DLR Band sold poorly is because it's an independant release, If WB. (or any major label released it) I'd say it would be pushing platinum at least.
Look at CRTH, Dave was still in VH wnen it was released and it shifted millions (very impressive for an E.P.), even though it didn't have VH on the cover it still sold very well.
I think that some newer fans thought that when DLR left VH that he fell straight into obscurity, no way - he was a pretty major chart star in the '80's on his own as well as with the Mighty VH. It was the worst decade of all time for rock music - the grunge filled '90's that couldn't handle the humour, attitude and genius that was Diamond Dave and it tried to kill him off, but that was then, this is now, And now it's time to Eat 'Em and Smile, AGAIN.

I'm real curious to see if Dave will want to sing any of his solo stuff on tour after they re-unite. And if Eddie will agree to it.

I saw a Gateway commercial today promoting a photo software that lets you stick your face in another photo. The guy in the commercial has a lady friend over and she's checking them out. Sure enough this guy has stuck himself in a pic with Dave. And there's a note saying 'Rock On, Dave' or something like that. It's pretty funny. Also RE: Dave solo. My fav Roth/Vai song is Big Trouble. That's diff from the VH Big Trouble tune though, right?
