Take Me Back (Deja Vu) vs. Tropic Of Capricorn

I generally don't participate in these "vs." threads, let alone start them, but I've seen this bandied about in other topics so I figured "what the heck?" and downloaded these songs so I could compare. Now granted, I've only listened to each one twice, but I don't see the similarity that's alleged. Yeah, musically they're kind of close, at least as far as sound goes, but it's not the same tune so it's kind of like comparing "Mean Street" and "Unchained". Lyrically, "Take Me Back (Deja Vu)" seems to be looking for something that was once but is no more, while "Tropic of Capricorn" is looking for something that hasn't quite been achieved yet. And I guess I got a bonus with "Tropic of Capricorn" - the ever-popular "hidden track" that begins with Samuel torching a fatty. Okay, time for the experts to weigh in...

It's close, but I prefer Tropic Of Capricorn!

Take Me Back is a depressing song about a lost love, while Tropic Of Capricorn is a uplifting song.

I see your point Billy, I think people that think those songs sound the same torched a fatty LOL!

I'll agree, I've yet to hear anything similar about those songs other than the singer mentions a tropical somethingorother in both of them.

Tough call, but I think I'll have to go with Take Me Back. Tropic of Capricorn is probably the most VH of any of Sammy's attempts, and if he could capture the "spirit" that brought that song about he'd probably have a large upswing in popularity.

Can I vote again? TROPIC OF CAPRICORN!!!

I like it ten times more than Take Me Back after listening to it a lot the past week!

I read that Sammy didn't even want Take Me Back on Balance he wanted to replace it with Crossing Over.

I think that they should have put them both on Balance. CO is a great song.
