BOV1 was just thrown together - IMO for the same reason as there has never been a live album or video/dvd released - a refusal to acknowledge Dave's genius - which is why it wasn't a two-disc set.
Dave's 'The Best' is very well put together - has lyrics, pics, chart postions for singles (a lot more hits than the casual fan or van hagar fan might think!!!) - and the song selection is strong - a few omissions (one glaring - Damn Good) - but generally perceived as a fair representation of his career.
BOV1 - The songs are outstanding (Roths) - but even the hagar era wasn't represented properly - I'm not a v.hagar fan at all - but they had a much better output than what represented them.
Actually coming back to the 2-disc set idea - They would have sold a TON!!!!! - each, - why didn't they do it????
I think the Roth era disc would still be in the charts today.
