Yeah Banshee, the title came from the name of a race horse. I have an EVH interview where he says that he (Eddie) wrote the first line, "I know what you're thinking" and that at first, Dave didn't care for it at all.

As for what the song is about, beats the hell out of me, but it's an amazing song, probably one of the best they've ever done in my opinion. Eddie plays some unbelievable guitar on it.

I've always taken it as Dave delivering a thinly-veiled message about his position within the band. Its a pretty open-ended lyric, which lets you read a bit into it yourself.

I've always thought the racehorse story was officially sanctioned BS to be honest.. I just see no relevence in that song to racehorses, frankly I think to try and palm that off is an insult to our intelligence!! I think once the VH gang worked out what Dave was saying in that song, they came up with the racehorce thing to blow it off.

Anyways, this ones getting moved to songs and albums

I thought it meant the magical powers of wisdom to fortell the future. Isn't he saying when the chorus goes "Don't ya trust me, me wise magic" that he's talkin' about VH trusting Dave with the future of VH like he's saying he wants to stay?

Me Wise Magic was and still is a Racehorse. It's a horse that's won and lost them $. Why they chose it for a song? It's a very strange horse. He'll win when you bet against him and loses when you bet for him.
