When did this Hagar album come out? I believe it was during his tenure in VH but I do not recall.

Yep, it's the album that Sammy owed Geffen as part of the deal made between Geffen and Warner Bros. when he joined VH.

Great CD, I think my fav off of it is When the Hammer Falls. It's got that "Balls to the Wall" Sammy Hagar feel to it.

Not a bad album. It's got 'Eagles Fly' and 'When the Hammer Falls' kicks ass too.

For what it's worth, this is the only Sammy solo album I ever bought (because of the EVH on bass angle), and I never got into it. The vocal performances are top-notch, but the music is generic and forgettable, which is true of most of the Sammy solo material I've heard. In my opinion, Sammy is one of the great rock vocalists. His range is incredible. He can emote on the ballads, and howl on the rockers. But he can't write memorable music. So, he needs to get back with one of the greatest rock composers of all time--Van Halen. Why can't they see that?

Maybe, Sammy can't drive 55, but he certainly kept it between the lines. The Red Rocker's been MOR for most of his career."Some men are born to greatness, some women have greatness thrust up in them."<br /> <br />Diamond Dave

I really like this cd. It has more of a "Montrose" sound to it than any of his other solo work.
It also has a very raw sound to it. Very little production, which, I believe, carried over to the OU812 sesions.
"Boys Night Out" is my favorite from that cd."Keep honking buddy. I'm reloading..." -The Mard
"......HEY!.............alright............." -BIG FOOT
" I know what you're thinking: "Do I want to watch Mard? We know that horses were very strong and could actually stop airplanes from flying away. The ones made out of stone called "statues" -- occasionally came to life and rode off is a colonial cliche. How many more times do we need to hear about how the oppressive Raj's wore villainous black capes, crafted cunning plastic masks to impersonate people, and drained all the blood from their slaves so they could keep the fluid in bottles in their dungeons? I mean, YAWN!
But if you're willing to sit through this dry sort of historical drama one more time -- or even just this dry historical review -- you will not be disappointed. In fact, some of you might just learn something they didn't teach you in school!- MARD-The Movie
