So I'm walking to the train this morning on my way to work and I'm blaring my current VH mix through my Net MD player, right?
What I thought at first was the sound of the bass distorting through my headphones made me pay attention closer - it turns out there's a clap track overdubbed over most of the choruses and solo in Feel Your Love Tonight.
Eddie did very little rythym overdubs on the early records. When he soloed, he pretty much had Michael and Alex behind him, and that was it. It's a fairly trademark VH production style, in my opinion. For some reason, it just struck me as hilarious that of all the things the guys would choose to overdub on their records, they chose human hand percussion over more guitar on that particular song.
And the hilarious thing about it - and the whole reason I'm posting - is that I realised it holds the whole song together. Much like a tambourine or a shaker overdub that you find on any radio-friendly rock single. Pure genius.
I don't know....with all the crazy negative posts in the other forums, I just thought I'd post something out of left field.

Oh yeah, one of the great classics of Van Halen I, now 25 years old.
I love the lyrics, "We're getting funny in the back of my car...."
Great stuff !

Another great tune off of the greatest hard rock album ever recorded.

VS, I love shrooms but never liked Phish. I admit they are good musicians but they are boring. Especially live. No melody that I could tell, just mindless endless jamming. I'd be very surprised if...
