What do you think of the (Oh) Pretty Woman video.

What does everyone think of the (Oh) Pretty Woman video. All I have seen or just a few clips of it, but it looks pretty strange. Does anyone know what the plot of is or where I can get the whole video?

I saw it for the first time on Rock Show a while ago. It's probably the cheesiest video I've ever seen. The plot looks like two midgets have a woman tied up and a guy sees them and calls all the band members (who are in various places) for help.

It starts off in a western type setting with Intruder. There's a woman standing up with each wrist tied to a pole and there's two midgets fondling her. There's a hermit-type guy watching this on his television, then he climbs a ladder and looks out and sees for himself what's going on. He goes back and calls the guys.

First he calls Mikey (as soon as Mikey appears, Pretty Woman begins), who is dressed like a samurai warrior. Mikey swings his sword around and is quite funny. Then Alex gets the call; he's wearing a loincloth, and crouching down in a hut. He takes the call and then leaves the hut, giving out a tarzan zell (which you don't hear, you only see). Then Eddie gets the call; he's dressed as a cowboy, sitting outdoors by a campfire.

Mikey, Alex and Eddie are shown travelling; Mikey and Eddie on horses, Alex on foot. Then Dave is show at the end of a long dining table dressed as Napolean (correct me if I've got my history wrong [img]smilies/redface.gif[/img]).

Then the three musicians show up to the scene where the woman is, and now it's night. The three of them stand side by side staring down the midgets, at which point headlights appear and a white limo arrives. Dave gets out, looks at the band, then at the camera.

The woman runs towards the camera, and pulls off the wig to reveal that it's actually a man. [img]smilies/eek.gif[/img]

It's cheesy, but it's a hilarious video.

Good analysis, Glenn. [img]smilies/cool.gif[/img] I think you're right about Napolean. Here's some info about the video from the VHE:

"(Oh) Pretty Woman" was banned from MTV and elsewhere in the U.S. shortly after its debut after angry parents across the nation called to complain about the transvestite being fondled by midgets. It seems many viewers, including those in Australia and New Zealand, which also banned the video, felt the video victimized women. MTV's stance was that the scene made the video too controversial to be broadcast. Japan also gave the video the thumbs down because it felt the band was making fun of a highly respected figure in their culture: the Samurai warrior (portrayed by Michael Anthony). Unknowingly, Michael's headband was worn upside down, adding to the insult. Probably the biggest downfall to the ban was the fact that it killed the initial support the song needed."

Anyway, it's Napolean Dave is portraying and I think he actually looks 'normal' in it. For Dave anyway. [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img] It's cool how Mike is the actual person riding that horse instead of a stuntman. Shows he's talented in more than just bass. Ed's cowboy suit looks natural in him. Even though the video is cheesy, I still love it. Mike's character was perfect for him. As for the ending....it's a classic.

the Pretty Woman Video is a m-e-g-a-b-l-a-s-t!

first VH-video i ever saw, back in the very early 80s here on some local TV Station (Europe), and it made deep impact, bcoz nothing really compared to it and it still rocks really hard.

they should make a videogame out of that clip!

there are some pics from/about the PW-Clip in Dave's book too!

how come classic VH-Clips are all soooo cool???

am i the only one to watch nothing but Jump, Hot4Teacher & Panama on the VH-DVD?
they fuc*ing should have put Pretty Woman on that DVD too!

yeah, classic VH rulez supreme.
instead of making an "the doors" movie, they should have made some "the mighty van halen" movie!

I thought the video was bizzare !!

I am not saying I dont like it, just that it took me like 4 times to finally sort of figure it out.

What I wanted to add though, is that INTRUDER is such a killer instrumental !! I always have to hear INTRUDER, then Pretty Woman. Just me maybe, but to hear that loud !! Yeah !!

It took me a while at first too Dan. After you sign up for an account a StrungOut, you need to sign up for your MP3 Server account. After a while a guy named Steve will E-mail you with your Username and password.

P.S. You will need an FTP program like WS_FTP to access the server. You can get it off of Download.com

P.P.S. Hey 79th and Sunset, your not the only one who likes Intruder. It is probably my favorite VH instrumental. You can't hear Pretty Woman without it.
