This may have been covered before, I don't know.
Got this from an article from Kerrang magazine (english rock mag). The name of the article was "The Devils Music".
".....in 1969 Anton Szandor Lavey penned the infamous "The Satanic Bible". Described by its author as "Satanic thought from a truly Satanic point of view", the book has influenced every single musician who has ever name-dropped the Devil, as well as quite a few who haven't - like Dave Lee Roth (has the writer of the piece ever heard RWTD), who titled his third solo single - Yankee Rose - after the last two words in "The Satanic Bible".
Looks like Steve Vai might have been "talkin'" about somebody else at the start of the song.

I've never read the Satanic Bible (or the real Bible for that matter) so I never knew it ended with those words.
Dave said it was about him sexualizing (sp?) the Statue of Liberty.
Either way, cool tune.

Dave has never been into that satanic crap so i dont believe it. The statue of liberty theory sounds more on point. Awesome song! 3

Hey, why go any deeper than the song plays good on your ears and seems to be about a woman. Honestly, seems to me some people are so hell bent to find Satan in everything rock-related.
I just always looked at it like this:
Yankee = Northern US person.
Rose = Something really special among the ordinary.
A Yankee Rose is a very special person found in the north

When EEAS came out Dave was on a video show (Friday Night Videos I think) and he said that it was written about the Statue of Liberty. He said he was in New York and everybody was going Statue of Liberty crazy because they were refurbishing the famous monument. So he decided to write a song to her as if she were an actual woman. Dave was in top form on this show, with one liners a plenty. I had it on tape for years, but now I've lost it. I remember some quotes verbatum. Talking about Yankee Rose he said it was getting too sexual so
"I had to kinda redial the words a little. So what you've got is a sort of heart felt kinda patriotism. Actually I meant it to be downright sexy, the Yankee Rose."
Then they played the video.
I can't believe I remember that so well. It was a great show.

They found the word bible in the Satanic Bible as well.
Anyway, to assume that there's some message to Yankee Rose other than those that come to light obviously is kinda silly to me.
I had a funny little experience yesterday. I do tech support, and one of my users had a problem. When I showed up she said "computers are the devil." So I said "and I'm satan's little helper." LOL.. sorry guys, it just seemed to fit the subject at hand.

I don't think the writer of the article is assuming that Yankee Rose is about satanism, I think he is just pointing out that the book ends with the words YR, and that DLR has used it for a song.
YR is definitely about the Statue of Liberty, (In the words of David lee Roth - MTV special-88 has a clip with him saying so), but we all know of Dave's passion for reading, maybe this is how he came up with the title - Yankee Rose.
I don't know, I was quite surprised when I read that piece in the article.

I thought for a sec you thought I was evil Master Joe, Yankee Rose from hell LOL!
What Glenn said is true. I also saw that show. Dave visualized the Statue Of Liberty as a real fox walking down the street. That's what the song is about. And what a incredible song it is!!! I also like Stuff No More's theory on it. I listen to that song every day, what a awesome song!!!

I am pretty sure "Yankee Rose" is about the Statue Of Liberty" and personifying it to be a woman.
This Satanic garbage has nothing to do with the song.
