Cool. Too short though. I want to hear more of the genesis of the whole concept, from the riff idea to the lyrical content, what inspired such content, etc. I know his dad inspired the term Stay Frosty, but I would love it if there was a documentary made or at least, more details about each tune. I know I'm being greedy, but I would have loved to been a fly on the wall when they wrote this one. I just love this tune. It's everything about Van Halen that I fell in love with. Eddie's playing and Dave's lyrics= brilliant imo.

I too was hoping for stuff like that. Unfortunately, I don't think the Van Halen's will be partaking in too many of these videos. It seems like it's just Dave's thing.

Maybe it's a west coast thing but I never once heard the expression "Stay Frosty" until this song. I had to google it after this song came out to see if it was a real saying or something.


Good video but I wish he talked more about the song itself.

It's really more of a military term than anything. Much like Dave mentions the Marines coming back from Vietnam.

It is mostly a military expression used in real life and in fiction, you can hear it in some movies like Aliens (1986) in the context of one Marine talking to the others.

- We're all in strung out shape, but stay frosty, and alert. We can't afford to let one of those bastards in here.

I was going to mention that. As soon as I heard the name of this song, Aliens popped into my head (one of my favorite movies).
