Brett, I get a permission denied error on both of these - you don't have permission to access this area of Vimeo.

Trying to access from iPhone. Anyone else have same problem?

I was told the first links were iPhone/iPad friendly. Hmmm...maybe not. I guess you have to be on the URL of the site for it to work.

I know this is lame but it makes me a tad uncomfortable with Dave making references to alcohol thus far -- this video and the Cafe Wha? show. Obviously I'm hyper-sensitive to it, I admit up front. But at what point does he stop with the alcohol-references when it damn near killed the man on whom he depends upon for his career?

I know most people can drink without any issues. If Ed's okay with it, which I guess he must be, then it's cool. But otherwise, I don't know, it just sort of hits me the wrong way.

I love Dave and his stories though. I love his late-night DJ voice. Classic.

That's what I thought, too.

Of course, when I read the book long ago, Dave's voice wasn't in my head, so I'm not certain.

There is only one Diamond Dave!!! He is a legend!! I'm so glad to see himand the band get another chance to be on top of the rock world. Who knows how long it will last but it's almost like a phoenix rising from the ashes type of thing and I'm savoring every minute of it.

Dude.....seriously???:wtf: Yeah, it is a bit lame. Why even bring this up? Van Halen is, was and will be a party band. Alcohol is and will be a part of partying. You don't think Ed and everybody else in the world realizes this?

It's not just you Dodds, so I hope you don't feel like I'm singling you out too much (a little bit is ok), but this is getting really lame when after 28 years of no music and years at a time with no output of information or ANYTHING for that matter, they put something up and within minutes we get commentary on "Is Ed smoking again?" "What's up with Dave's Microphone?" "Why did Ed wear red pants? Is that code for something horrible?" "Dave mentioned booz....ohhhhhhh, hope it doesn't break up the band!"

I mean really???:wtf:

Kick back and stay frosty mother fuckers! Damn!

I honestly think if you expect that you shouldn't be in forums. This kind of ranting/analyzing is what I believe ultimately is appealing to people who come here. Some would say it's not but they are in the minority. Proof is in how much the stuff is brought up and debated . . . . it has an appeal here. It just does.

Oh really? Thank you for your perspective and keen insight as to what I should and shouldn't expect on a forum that I've been coming to for about 12 years, have moderated and helped administer and been a part of for so long. Your fresh take on what people want and don't want to analyze .....I just hadn't thought of before. I take it all back. You're right, maybe I shouldn't be here if I expect people to first get down with the boogie getting laid out and hyper analyze later. I'll probably just leave now. Thanks brother, what a great load off.

PS- Given your understanding of the full spectrum of posters and what they come here for, perhaps you might find that there might be a bit of room for my own perspective as well....maybe I'll stick around after all and flesh that one out a bit..

I'm just saying you have unrealistic expectations from any band's music fans and unrealistic expectations for what should be talked about in forums. Your lengthy experience in forums should be a help to you in this. It's not a jab, just an observation. I agree that stuff gets stupid but people want to bring stuff up no matter how trivial. I'm kinda bipolar on this stuff, one day pissed about stupid questions and then the next day asking them myself.

I'm the first to admit I'm part of the problem with the culture. It's not always easy to be restrained when it comes to subject matter people are passionate about. I guess I just get surprised by others being surprised at what makes it's way into threads in ANY forum. You just watch, I will be rolling my eyes at what people complain about, same way people do that at me.

i've listened to this thing a couple of times now, and the more i listened, the more it sounds like Dave is letting his hair grow longer. This concerns me because quite obviously the three Van Halens all have short hair, including EVH who got a nice new trim before the show the other night.

DLR continuing in this vein is a sign this reunion is clearly coming off the tracks.

Even though the "The little lights aren't twinkling" quote was recently used to make fun of a point I was trying to make, I have now embraced the phrase fully. It's both appropriate, and more importantly, hilarious. Good show!

What the hell?? If this was 1982 there'd be no probs with the Diamond One. People are so GD sensitive and politically correct nowadays about everything. I'm sick of it. It's VH. It's the Diamond One we all know and love. It's what gives the Diamond One his shine.

C'mon now.

On the plus side, I rather like those drawings. That's what should be on the t-shirts instead of that Ed Hardy crapola.
