Well, I just got one of those "Flip" video cameras and despite my better judgement (because this can be a hazardous endeavor on many levels) I decided to post a quick, unrehearsed clip of me playing my Unchained replica.

Great job on the guitar and the playing as well. I'm so burned out on VH1 that I haven't listened to it in ages, so I really enjoyed some of your selections. Used to play Jamie's Cryin' among others in a cover band in the late 70's/early 80's. I'll bet your tone from the Vypyr had a little more bottom end live. I have nothing to put up, so I'll shut up.

Thank you. My selection was completely unintentional, though. Over the years, I've found that if I try to rehearse or plan things out they NEVER come out the way I want them to. My best approach, really, is to use a "mu shin" (Japanese for "no mind") approach... that's when I usually come close to achieving what I want.

Yeah, live there is a lot more bottom end! That mysterious You Tube "processing" that an uploaded video clip goes through unquestionably alters the tone!
Love that Smit's site as well and have bookmarked it. "Midrange grind that would make Cap'n Crunch jealous" and "this pickup gets pinch hamonics all over the place" (the db signature 20k pickup). Might have to put one of those in something and bring out my inner Zakk Wylde. Even with your Smit's EBS-2 on the video clip I can hear the artificial and natural harmonics really jumping out.

IMO, you really can't go wrong with Kevin's pick-ups, I highly recommend them and Kevin is an absolute pleasure to deal with.
Another great pick up that he makes is the Ultra 7T based on the "Ibanez Super 70's".

The pick-up is unquestionably an integral component, but the other secret is the all-Tungsten block that I attached to the Floyd... that made a big difference.

You and me both!
I listened to VH1 so much as a teenager that i haven't been able to listen to it in years.
That's the one VH album i never play ever.
Ever!
