Dear Fans and Friends,

Here are some facts you might find interesting:

Sources are now saying that David is demanding 48% of ALL revenues from concert sales, album sales, t-shirts--EVERYTHING!

Cherone was getting 6%. Now you can see why I say that DAVE IS DUMB. Think about it, who needs a reunion more?? I think it's the carnival performer working the fair circuit.

    More later...

If they go with a boxed set or BOV2 without a resolution to the band's future/lead vocalist situation, I have some really bad news for them: the release is going to stiff. Only the hard-core fans are going to bite on this -- and we're becoming less interested as each day passes.

I was just perusing Geddy Lee's web site at http://www.geddylee.net. Now Geddy ain't no slouch when it comes to success in the music industry. Geddy personally responded to many posts on his message board and even gave fans a band/recording update in the middle of making his new Rush album. Rush was on an extended hiatus after Neil Peart's personal tragedies, etc. Yet, they managed to find a way to intelligently communicate their status to their fans without invading their own privacy. Amazing concept, huh?

Again, another insider that doesn't post their source.

mikeno55, good call dude. Geddy Lee is a class act. Ed, Dave, Alex, and Mike could all take lessons from him.

Dave Meniketti, formerly of Y&T, does the exact same thing on his site.

You're right, though. It IS an amazing concept...artists communicating thru their sites to their fans.

The way I heard it, there wouldn't be a future except *possibly* a final tour with Dave to promote it. Gary Cherone said something similar in a radio interview earlier in the summer.

Claiming to be touring to promote a box set is a nice, convenient way to deflect the fact that they'd really be touring as one final, huge cash grab. Box sets are not designed to sell major numbers, so a tour isn't really going to radically change the sales numbers of a $100 product like that. A reunion tour is where the money is, not on trying to sway a few non hard core fans to buy some box set when they're barely aware of the band beyond Jump or Panama.

Not that I'd be complaining mind you. I'm dying for a box set (though I'm sure these guys would find a way to make it a poor grouping of material ) and I've basically given up on VH doing anything again. So I'll take whatever I can get.

Seeing as how it's VH we're talking about, a boxed set from them would probably be all of their cd's and both concert videos in a box with nothing previously unreleased with it, save for the addition of BOV2, which would probably also have nothing new on it.

And after all this time, with the band racking up enough new material for 2 or 3 cd's (supposedly), anything short of actually releasing a completely NEW cd would be the biggest slap in the face from them to date. And we've already been slapped around enough.

Don't these fools employ spin doctors, publicists, marketing representatives etc. to help keep their names in the papers and to help keep public interest up? These guys are becoming more obscure than Jimmy Hoffa and Chandra Levy combined. This situation gets more and more pathetic by the day.

Music must be the only thing these guys are good for because besides that, it seems as though they don't have the know-how or intuition to do much else (note: this excludes Dave.)

a boxset would be a waste of time imo.

what's gonna be on it?? they already remastered the dave catalog. and you know they're not gonna put the stuff with gary from the second album on it...i think that'd be a total waste. they'll be lucky to sell 50,000 of those things, and that's being generous.
