I've got a buddy who lives in LA, he claims to know alot of record company people, who he knows I don't know. Sometimes he tells me some things he has heard about VH. Sometimes he is right-Sammy and Mike working together, sometimes he's wrong, he told me VH would be putting out a multvocalist album about a year and a half ago. Now this is a rumor mill so I figured I'd post some stuff I had heard and see what happens.

1-Mike has been wanting to work with Sammy for awhile and has always been told no by the VH brothers-by work with him I mean show up at a concert and go out on stage, throw some backing vocals on a song or 2. Mike had to threaten to leave the band for Ed and Al to let him work on the Hagar/Schon project.

2-Dave's DVD is done but no one wants to release it.

3-Sony has told Ed and Al that they will sign them if they want to release anything-no matter who is singing on it.

4-Ed and Al have no plans to record anything, anytime soon. Ed is bitter about the failure of VH3, he thought it was a masterpiece and when the fans did not accept it, well let's just say he's not eagar to record anything.

5-Mike has been pulling for Sammy to get back in the band for a while. It's very strange for him to be friends with both parties plus Mike loved the friendship the band had back in 86-91 and would love to recapture that.

6-The 3 songs Dave and Ed wrote last year will probably never be released. Ed did not like them and does not feel they are a step forward for the band.

7-Ed may work on some soundtrack stuff, kinda like the wildlife.

8-no one really knows whats up with Alex. He's kinda fallen off the face of the earth. My buddy heard Al is drinking again, but has also heard that this is a lie.

9-If the Hagar/Schon/Anthony project takes off, expect a tour, videos and the whole nine yards, this might even turn into a permanent thing for Hagar ans Schon, Anthony wants to stay with VH but his first priority is VH.

10-There are 2 stories regarding Eddie being sick, the first is that he is fine. The second is that he is really bad. It's either one or the other, no in between.

Well that's it. It might all be BS, it might all be true. I don't know. But these are rumors I have heard. I know I don't have alot of posts here but I used to post as Al Hagar a while ago. I also posted at the PD as Big Al. I'm not trying to stir shit up or anything just figured I'd pass on some info.

Well, this part is pure bullshit. No offense to you or your "source" man, but they had already starting recording stuff for a second album with Cherone when he left, and they have recorded at least three songs with Dave.

WOW!!! HOLYFUCKINGFUCK!!! What kind of Twilight Zone am I living in? What kind of Viagra-Testosterone mix are these 50 year old + guys on? I never thought I'd hear another Dave and Eddie album again. If I did, I thought it would be a mid-paced affair like the Rolling Stones or later day AC/DC. After the TATTOO single I was ready for a poppy album from old guys, with a few nods to harder rock (She's A Woman and Bullethead) and I would have been happy with that.

I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE GETTING A FULL-THROTTLE HARD ROCK, HEAVY METAL, BALLS TO THE WALL, FUCKING VAN HALEN THRASH METAL ALBUM!!!

Maybe it was worded wrong. Yes they recorded some stuff with Cherone but Ed's heart just was not in it. As far as the Stuff with Dave, I seem to remember hearing that it was written but never recorded. Contact between the 2 stopped before anything more than a veery basic track-guitar and vocals-could be recorded. I don't know maybe my buddy is wrong. Like I said, he's kinda hit or miss with some stuff.

Well, if item #4 is remotely true, that is a HUGE mistake on Ed's part. The smartest thing to do would have been to issue a well-produced, very quick follow-up to VHIII -- even if it was with Cherone. (Shit, at this point I'd take Bette Midler on vocals!). When your cat shits in the sandbox, either you can leave out for everyone to enjoy or you can bury it.

Does your buddy know why Ed and Dave have stopped talking or making music together? Last we heard,Ed said EVERYTHING was going fine, til the lawyers got involved, but nothing has far as him and Dave not getting along?

Thanks for the great thread man! I liked your honest and straight forward approach (unlike much of the bullshit we see).

    Example:

"WHY VAN HALEN HAS BEEN SILENT!"

I WORK FOR AT&T AND REPAIRED SOME OF THE PHONES AT 5150! VALERIE (WE HAD DINNER TOGETHER) SAID THAT EVH WAS ABDUCTED BY ALIENS AND THATS WHY WE HAVENT HEARD FROM HIM IN 3 YEARS! THE ALIENS ARE TEACHING EVH SOME NEW LICKS, AND ROTH AND HAGAR ARE SINGING ON THE NEW ALBUM - WHICH WILL FEATURE 28 SONGS!

All kidding aside man, great thread, thanks for being straight up, and any new info is always welcome !

PS: I remember the Sony thing a while back. If I remember correctly, I read that WB was pissed at the lackluster sales of VH3, and that Sony said that they'd be more than happy to get Van Halen...Hopefully it'll become a reality, better sooner than later .

I remember hearing similar news when Gary first left and it was revealed that WB didn't like the follow up to VH3. Apparently Sony said come on over and we'll let you do what you want.

Interesting speculation but it's hard to believe Sony would be interested in VH4.

I don't think Sony would be any better for VH than WB were, but they would be better than no label at all.

I swear people have too much time on their hands. This was one of the most amateurish BS rumors I've ever read.
