From what I understand, there is audio from both shows (KC and MN). The MN show is now available here on the Links. If someone gets the KC audio, you know what to do with it.

As Dave asked several times in KC...

Yeah, what's the difference? Maybe a DAT isn't as good since it's a tape. Or maybe a minidisc isn't as good since it's more compressed.

I doubt that (in the case of a live recording) what medium you record to would make much difference, where your standing etc would have a far bigger influence on the quality.

    Whatever, its all good.

Mike got songs. Mike cool! Me wompum music now : ook :

What and where are these "other two". Do you mean that there are 3 different people who recorded the MN show, 2 of them being dat? If so, where can I find them? Thanks.

I'd tend to agree with Goo about location being the most important factor for an audience recording. I don't really know though, as that was the only one I've done.

On Saturday I popped around to different locations during the acts before DLR. Things sounded a bit better towards the back. I had to decide whether I wanted to get the best sound, or go up front and really enjoy the show. I tried not to yell or sing too much.

You're correct on the secong guess. MD's are much more compressed than a DAT (DAT's are full-fledged "CD-quality"); but the sound difference is miniscule on an average audience recording. The guys who said that the location/audience plays a much bigger factor are right on the money.

Location is definately major!! That's why I went right up front and stood about 12ft. from the speakers. I knew for this one (especially since it was GA) that I needed to be close to the source to drown out the crowd noise.

It sounded awesome up close too!!
