Hey Fabio : HP burners are really good ! Choose a SCSI one ... it's perfect for doing audio cds without fire some cds ! The SCSI adapters are the best choose !

When ya burn an audio cd burn them at not more than 4x ... in that way the cds will burn better and in better quality !
At 6x or 8x burning ya may lost some dates !

Keep on rocking my buddy !

    IDE or SCSI.

It depends what you have on your PC.

    ALL pc's have IDE.

For you to use SCSI, you will have to have SCSI built into the motherboard or have a SCSI card ($100-150) attached to the motherboard.

I can go into more detail if you want.

The basic PC comes with 4 IDE.

Your motherboard manual should be able to tell you.

or..if you know the brand name of your MB. or model number I can probably help you.

    what if:

    a-) i don't know the model
    b-) i don't know the brand
    c-) i don't have the manual
    d-) all the above

i guess (d) would be the perfect choice in my case...

Plexor and Yamaha make good burners. Something I have learned is that in order to 'overburn' your PC CD burner, the software you use and the CDRs you use all have to be able to do this. My Sony burner (which came with the PC) does not overburn. Easy CD Creator is one software that does overburn. I believe most Plexor and Yamaha's overurn. As far as a SCSI vs IDE? SCSI is faster but more expensive. Most get by using the IDE slots which I think are the white strips on your Muthaboard. Adding a brand new external CD burner to an old PC might be difficult feat to accomplish. Anytime you the burner is not part of the original PC i think it's difficult to get the PC to behave, at least from what I have heard. I bought my burner with my PC
