Has anyone heard anything about the "3 or 4 songs" that Van Halen and David Lee Roth supposedly recorded in 2000? I've heard a rumor that 4 songs are floating around in bootleg form. Could this be true?

Who knows? Apparently Dave said it was some of the best work he's ever done with the band and Ed on the other hand said it wasn't all that spectacular. Van Halen has quite the collection of stuff that the fans would love to listen to but it will never end up seeing the light of day ie-the follow up to VH3, the infamous "Between Us Two" etc...

I found a bootleg for sale that claims it was recorded in 2000 or 2001. It's not 100% clear if it's DLR solo or DLR with Van Halen, but it eludes that it's the 4 unreleased reunion tracks. The track names are "Kicks," "Ain't It Peculiar," "Seriously Affected," and "Shine The Light." Don't know if this is a hoax or not, so I'm not sure if I want to buy it. Might take a chance.

I've seen Mp3's on WinMx called Blue Sun Burning and Octopuss that are supposed to be reunion tracks

Shine the Light is a Roth solo tune that has been put up on the DlrArmy before, as is Kicks.

I don't recall having heard of Shine the Light, but I've had Kicks on a bootleg cd since before VH and Roth supposedly had this writing/recording session, so it's not from there. And Seriously Affected and Ain't it Peculiar are Roth solo tunes. And frankly, I don't think even Dave would consider those songs to be "hands falling off the clock" great. If they were Dave and Eddie compositions, few people would be excited about a reunion.

Unless released officially by the band (yeah, right), these tunes from the latest 'reunion' will never see the light of day. VH works in their own studio, and look at how few studio songs have leaked since they started working there.

Bottom line, to VH fans this writing session with their original vocalist is a holy grail type of thing. If these tunes leak, these sites will go NUTS with the news, you're unlikely to hear about it on Ebay first.

I got a bit hosed on this boot. It's obviously not the latest DLR/VH reunion sessions, but it does feature a few interesting tracks. There's a solo DLR version of "Crosstown Traffic," which I had never heard before. "Shine The Light," another solo tune, has a guitar part that sounds similar to "Little Guitars." It's not bad. "Ain't I Peculiar" sounds like a live Mambo Slammers track. The rest of the CD is pretty decent, with the high points being VH versions of "The Rover" and "House Of Pain" that I've never heard before. Also, "Angel Eyes" is awesome. The bootlegger, however, pulled a lame stunt and stuck "Don't Piss Me Off," "Me Wise Magic" and "Can't Get This Stuff No More" on there straight off of their CD sources.

If those tracks ever did get out without the band's permission I'm sure they would have a short list of suspects

on a similar note, kinda funny how the plug was pulled on Rage/Cornel until those tracks slipped out and everyone liked what they heard. now that project is back on again
