Does anybody know if you can find these two songs anywhere: "Between Us Two" the fabled "Van Halen's Stairway to Heaven" song that was scrapped in favor of Humans Being back in '96? And also, "Left for Dead" off of the never completed follow up to VH 3 in 1999? If anyone could help, it'd be much appreciated.

Between Us Two was never finished, so short of a EVH/SH reunion I doubt you'd ever hear anything from it. And IIRC, Left For Dead falls into that category too, but a song of the same name (possibly inspired by it) was released by Gary's new band, Tribe of Judah.

Actually, "Between Us Two" was finished and produced by Glenn Ballard.

There are two versions that were recorded. One was produced by Glenn Ballard and the other by Bruce Fairburn.

The only major difference was the lyrics.

The one that was produced by Bruce was the original with Sammy's Lyrics and the other one that was produced by Glenn has some lyrical changes from Glenn per Eddie's request.

The tracks were finished but never saw the light of day due to Eddie not being happy with the song saying it was missing something.

Accoring to interviews from both Glenn and Bruce it was said to be Van Halen's best musical effort that had the edge to take them even higher on the musical charts.

Bruce died shortly after that last interview.
What is understood, need not be discussed.

If it is true that Warner Bros. will be releasing a Van Halen Box set around October or November 2002, it just might be there.

Then again it all depends if Warner Bros. has the rights to all that Unreleased stuff.

There are a few songs off of the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge album that didn't make it to the final production which is unfortunate because the people that have heard it say that it was very Fair Warningish sound with Sammy's vocals.

    Those tracks are

    1) The Wish
    2) You Never Know
    3) Numb The Numb or Numb To Numb (Not really sure)
    4) Altered States
What is understood, need not be discussed.

Because WB most likely doesn't have rights to that stuff, I'm afraid you may be right.

Cool info on those lost Sammy and Gary tracks. On a Dave note, anyone know if the cover of Wilson Pickett's "In The Midnight Hour" was ever officially recorded by VH and exists anywhere? They were originally going to make it the first single for the "1984" album until they decided they were covered-out from "Diver Down."
