Just wondering what would be the holy grail in terms of VH bootlegs and what you guys would really like to get hold of?

How about the DLR sessions in 2000? or the rumoured Coverdale sessions?

What I would like to hear the most is the unreleased VH song with Sammy called Between Us Two that is supposed to be VH's Stairway To Heaven!

I would love to hear all of the Van Hagar songs that were never released.

I also would love to hear the songs recorded with Gary for the follow up to Van Halen 3.

If they recorded the jam sessions with Sass Jordan I would love to hear them!

I know they recorded with Mitch Malloy, that would be interesting to hear.

I don't care that much about the 1981 show. I heard that there was an entire concert filmed during the 1984 tour, I would like to see that much more!

I also would like to hear the songs that VH did with Dave for 5150 before he left VH. And I would like to hear the songs that didn't make the album for Eat Em' And Smile, I read that they did a Kim Mitchell cover, and I am a big Kim Mitchell fan.

Last but not least, I would like to hear the new VH songs with Dave when they re-united briefly over a year ago, if they were recorded.

Gary did 1 song on his Tribe of Judah EP that was supposed to be on the VH III follow-up. It's called "Left For Dead", and it's great. I'd like to hear what VH would've done with it.

The only Van Hagar song that is available as a bootleg release is "I Want Some Action", which was left off "5150". This track is very energetic, and I am clueless as to why they chose to leave it off in the first place.

That song smokes! There was plenty of room on 5150 to fit it.

I'd most like to hear unreleased OU812/FUCK tracks.

The 'Holy Grail' of bootlegs/unreleased material is subject to opinion. For me, I'd love to hear ANY unleased songs/jam sessions that have been laying around the studio.

Scott nailed it, that's the one.

I would love to hear these tracks:

Glitter
Reportedly recorded for the band's first demo tape and later re-recorded in 1977.

5150 Special
Leftover track from the 1984 sessions.

Any Time, Any Place
A leftover track from the 1984 sessions.

Anything To Make It Right
Leftover synthesizer tune from the 1984 sessions.

Baritone Slide
Leftover track from the 1984 sessions.

Forget 1
Leftover track from the 1984 sessions.

Lie To You
Leftover track from the 1984 sessions.

Ripley
Leftover song from the 1984 sessions. It was written on a Ripley Guitar, designed by Steve Ripley. The guitar itself is quite unique due to the fact that each string can be sent to different sides of the speaker through the use of its individual string pan pots.

Out Of The Ether
Leftover song from the F.U.C.K. sessions. It was later planned for Balance, with a working title of Hendrix Jam.

The Wish
Leftover keyboard-oriented song from the F.U.C.K. sessions. Thomas Dolby also lent a hand on this song, sequencing the notes into a MAC computer using Opcode Vision software.

You Never Know
Leftover keyboard-oriented song from the F.U.C.K. sessions. Thomas Dolby also lent a hand on this song, sequencing the notes into a MAC computer using Opcode Vision software.

Backdoor Shuffle
Leftover song from the Balance sessions. The music was later used for Can't Get This Stuff No More from Best of Volume 1, with different lyrics written by David Lee Roth.

Shaker
Leftover track from the Balance sessions.

Blood From A Rock
Leftover track from the Van Halen III sessions.

It's Not Over 'Till It's Over
Leftover track from the Van Halen III sessions.

Why? Because Why
Leftover song from the Van Halen III sessions that was to feature some vocals by Wolfgang Van Halen.

Also, there’s got to be a lot more of Dave leftovers that we don’t know about that haven’t made it onto any albums or boots.

Give me all of ‘em dammit!

I'd say my Holy Grail would be a first generation recording of the complete US Festival Show.

Very true. It all depends on what the collector is interested in when it comes to unreleased studio material. I'm interested in hearing what the band recorded in 1999, but close-minded Gary bashers wouldn't give a fuck to listening to it. But the major concensus of traders agree that out all the live boots known to exist, the Oakland video is the most sought-after (even though Neal Monk is the only guy with a copy ).

Scott,

Who exactly is Neal Monk, and how would he have the only copy in existence? The three videos that were released were first aired on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, right?

What's the low down here.

Thanks.

Noel Monk was VH's personal manager...

Yep, those 3 videos are part of "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert Series"
