.... you better think again!. This just in from Melodicrock.com...

    BREAKING JOURNEY NEWS:
Late late night update - following Van Halen's lead, Journey and their long time label Sony Music have parted ways.
Again, not a huge surprise, but a major news story. Full details in the next 12-15 hours.
Not that I have much sympathy for the fake Journey, but this begs the question: Who will be the next victim of Major Label Meltdown???

After the disasterous sales of 1013, is Sammy on the BMG chopping block?

I know this will just break your heart, FORD, but if Beyond hasn't released Motley Crue yet, Sammy is safe.

Ah, but MCA already dumped him after only 2 albums.

Believe it or not, I don't want Sammy to get cut by his label. But it seems like these megaglobal corporate labels, not exactly hurting for cash, are taking a "fuck up once and you're out the door" attitude with bands that have a 20 year string of platinum behind them. How many WB execs bought Ferrari's with our Van Halen dollars? How many mansions did Journey build for Tommy Motolla and his friends?

Even though both bands have fucked up in recent years and have alienated most of their fan base on both counts, I still think they got the shaft from the labels.

VH with Roth would be picked up in a heartbeat, as long as they would commit to an album/tour. However without Roth not many would touch them. On the other hand, some label may want a chance to sign VH regardless hoping to get them back on track, perhaps with Roth. That is unlikely since VH would want too much and at this stage of the game, no one is going to take that chance, especially without a singer.

The members of Journey have been complaining about Sony not promoting Arrival so i'm not surprised by this. Arrival is Journey's best album IMO, and it should have been a huge hit. I hope that Journey can now get a new label that will promote them properly.

As far as the big labels go "the majors", it's all about cash, period. They sell the majority of their CD's and music videos to teenagers. They know =VH= is a risky proposition in terms of potential record sales at this point, even with Dave, because the teenagers probably won't be buying it. Not at the rate "the majors" would like to see.

Maybe =VH= will be better off doing something with a smaller label or on their own. Scale it back a bit, and concentrate on the music. Make tons of cash touring with Dave... on the other hand, what about Geffen?

    I'm so confused.

i was thinking more along the lines of Dreamworks, but i think they're distributed by Universal. i think Geffen is through Uni also, can't remember. haven't seen much on the Journey thing yet, but i do recall seeing something about Schon complaining about Sony's lack of support.

What the hell is Schon talking about? Of course Sony supported Journey. Didn't they just release "The Essential Journey" 2 CD set a couple months ago and run a TV commercial every 5 minutes.

What they didn't do is support the FAKE Journey.

    And they shouldn't have to.

Damn these fucking egotisitical guitarists who think that they are the entire band.

Journey is Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Greg Rolie, Ross Valory, and Steve Smith. Any questions?

Lucas better quit fucking around with what made Star Wars great. First it was the annoying 8 foot tall gay frog with the bad Rasta accent. Then he threatened us with an N SUCK cameo.

The John WIlliams soundtracks are as much a part of the Star Wars experience as The Force!! Don't fuck with it, not even for Eddie!

It's bad enough there's some Michael Bolton sounding cheese ballad as the theme for the new Star Trek series. Fuck, is nothing sacred anymore??

Egotistical guitarists, FORD? Umm...Have you ever seen Steve Perry in an interview? Talk about an ego...Journey is a group, not just him. He never seemed to understand that...

Steve Perry's ego makes Roth's ego look like a shy 13 year old with a pimple on his ass. I saw the VH1 interview with Perry, what an ass. He said that he never felt like he was part of Journey. WTF? Everything successful that Journey ever did had Perry's vocals on it.

Ford's right tho about Lucas, he's making a fucking joke out of the Star Wars saga, he was much better when he was starving and was making a quality product. I heard a radio host talking about a 'sneak preview of the new installment and he said it sucks hard.
