Think about it: every other band in existence seems to be touring this Summer, they are smart to wait until every one else is done, then hit the road. Less competition, more venues to play, etc. If they release a new album in September, I'd like to see them hit the road by at least October.

Maybe, but I personally think the reunion tour could squash ALL competition!

Yeah, I think Van Halen can hit the road whenever they want and not worry about competition from other bands. They'll sell out everywhere they go, and you've got to figure that most major places will see them playing multiple nights. I just hope they get up here to Canada and do a thorough tour, not just the Toronto/Vancouver shows that a lot of bands do.

Well, we have a nice place here in Rochester, NY, but there's something wrong, because we can't get anyone to come here. It sucks. Fortunately, people do go to Buffalo...not sure if they have an indoor arena, but I'm sure they must. If not, I'm gonna have to go to Toronto. No problems there. There's no way I'd miss this concert. It will be my first with VH. I saw Roth last year where everyone could virtually touch him...lol. It'll be funny to see him be so untouchable once he's with VH. Together, those guys are #1!

I think VH missed a golden opportunity to tour this summer. First, I really don't think there are that many big acts on the road right now. Kind of a lull in the music scene. Second, they could play a lot of out door venues where as in the fall and winter they can't.

Actually we've got a new (about 3 yrs old) hockey arena - HSBC Arena - that holds 19,000 in the stands (+ more on the floor).
I've seen VH w/ Sammy and/or Gary at Niagara Falls Convention Center (indoor), The Aud (indoor - old hockey arena), Darien Lake Amphitheatre (outdoors, some seats covered), and Rich Stadium (outdoors - Monsters of Rock '88).

I don't know why they don't stop in Rochester.
There are several indoor arenas here in Buffalo, but if they come thru in the summer, I think I'd rather be outdoors, like at Darien Lake!!

Maybe they could do some arena shows through the winter and spring and have a monster stadium tour next summer.

VH2000, Yeah, Darien Lake is cool. Actually, I like Fingerlakes better for an outdoor arena. It's got a little better sound...at least it seemed that way. I saw Roth last year at Darien Lake and the sound blew (maybe because I was in the 12th row), but anyways, glad to hear Buffalo has some indoor places.

lull in the music scene? well, kiss had their farewell tour. i don't care how many people hate them here, but that was huge, no two ways about it.
and glenn said that he wanted them to come to canada, and i'm with him, because i wanna see them bad. so calgary for me, we've got a nice arena (19000+ floor) and a football stadium (50000 easy), so i don't think there will be a problem.
i'm not goin' over to vancouver unless i win tickets from a radio station.

If I'm not mistaken, we in Edmonton got the Rolling Stones on the Voodoo Lounge tour in Commonwealth Stadium while you guys in Calgary didn't in Mcmann Stadium because it wasn't big enough for the stage the Stones used.

yeah, commonwealth is bigger cause it's got the track around it. we just got the football field in mcmahon. but we could still fit 50000 people. i'm kinda interested in what the stage is like. if not, i'll head up to edmonton if i have to. only 3 hours, maybe only one hour if i'm going to see a vh concert

It's wise not to tour until the new album is released...that's the way VH has always done it...I mean, it's a good bet we won't hear much of the Sam years if Dave is the man...VH will want to play new material...
