From vh@yahoogroups.com, and for your reading pleasure:

This is pretty much verbatim, minus the "uh's" and "ah's" that you get
when you do something live. A couple good things that he said.

    ----------------------------------------------

Big Marty: Oh, and I have a very, very special guest on the phone
with me. A man who everybody wants to talk to, a man who
everyone wants to know ... Michael Anthony. Michael are you there..

Michael Anthony: Oh my God, Marty ... this interview is over. I'm
comin' right over, pal. Jeez, after an intro like that ... my life
    suddenly
    got boring. <laughs>

    BM: Ayyyy.... how ya doin'?

    MA: <laughs> How you doin'?

BM: I'm doin' great, how are you Michael?

MA: Actually, I'm doin' quite well right now.

BM: Where are you, by the way?

MA: Up somewhere around Berkeley, out here. I am in town here
to do the CMA awards with Sammy Hagar.

BM: Oh, no kiddin'! Well, that's cool.

MA: Yeah, we have a little side thing that we've been doin', tentatively
called Planet Us, with Neal Schon from Journey and Dean
Castronova ... and we're gonna be ending the show up here with a
    couple songs.

BM: Well, no kiddin'. Is this the first time the four of you will be
    onstage together as this project?

    MA: It certainly will.

BM: Well how's it ... I mean ... are you lookin' forward to it? You a
    little nervous, I mean c'mon ...

    MA: What?

BM: When was the last time you were onstage playing? It's probably
    been awhile.

MA: Aw gee .. now you wanna hear a grown man cry, hunh? Actually
since the last Van Halen tour ... it's been almost 3 years.

BM: I'll bet you're just chompin' a the bid to get up onstage and jam,
    ain't ya.

MA: Oh, we just came from a soundcheck today because the awards
are tomorrow night and we didn't want to leave. I was ready to
    keep playin'.

BM: This sounds like such a good lineup -- yourself, Michael Anthony,
Sammy Hagar, Neal Schon of course from Journey, Dean
Castronova... he was in a band here and won a Battle of the Bands
here in Vegas many, many years ago.

MA: Really? I've have to ask him about that. He's a kick-ass drummer
I'll tell ya ... he's one of the ... one of the ...uhh.... most
    incredible
    drummers I've ever played with.

BM: Yeah, he's a hell of a drummer -- he just beats the crap out of
those skins during the show. And uh ... yeah Dean was in a band,
a local band called Enemy. You'll have to ask him about that.

MA: Yeah, I'll definitely ask him about that.

BM: Okay, now Planet Us, lets talk about Planet Us. Besides doin'
this thing tonight, are you guys plannin' .... I heard there's possibly,
you guys could possibly get in the studio, do a full album, and maybe
even do some tour dates. Is that possible?

MA: Uhhh.. anything is possible at this point. Uhh... Van Halen; we've
been on a break right now, and we're still kind of uhhh.... not doing
anything at the moment. So Sammy had asked me if I wanted to do
this thing, and we thought 'hey, kind of a great little side project
    thing
to do. And so ... we're actually talking about seeing how far this
thing will take us. And uh ... you know with everybody's schedules
and everything ... we're definitely lookin' towards possibly recording
some stuff and comin' out and playin' some shows.

BM: Awww.. Michael that would be great. I'll tell ya what ....

MA: It's kickin' ass ... you know ... we need some good, old-fashioned,
kick-ass rock 'n' roll, and that's what this thing is. It's been a
    blast
    doin' it.

BM: Well that's cool. I can't wait ... I know you guys have already
recorded like 2 or 3 songs. I can't wait to hear those in one way,
shape, or form sooner or later. Because I know those are going to
    come out. Correct?

MA: Oh yeah. It's great and uh ... ya know ... Sammy's goin' out on
tour, and I found out that he was playin' out there in Vegas, and I
said 'Sammy, how could you go to Vegas and not invite your buddy
Mikey out?'. So I'm here to officially say that when he does his
shows on the 17th and 18th of May ..... I'm going to be there. I'll
probably a couple shots of Jack Daniels, and I'm gonna be right up
    on stage too.

BM: Michael, it's going to get ugly. I'm moving in to the Hard Rock
Hotel that whole weekend. So, I'm sure we're just gonna have a
blast and tear it up. I can't wait.

MA: I just want to make sure that you keep the pool atmosphere and
all that happenin' 'till I get there.

BM: Alright. Oh yeah, we definitely will, man this place will be tore
    apart ...

MA: I'll tell ya, we're ready for it. I'm here ... I mean we're actually
    in
the big party bus right now. And, uh, Neal Schon and Dean are here,
Sammy is here, his whole band is here -- the Waboritas. And it's like
a big party bus we're doin' this weekend. And you want me ... here,
I'll show you just how fired up these guys are, okay. Hold on a
second. <holds phone away from himself and says: " Hey, you guys
ready for Vegas or what? " -- much screaming and hollering can be
heard on the other end of the phone.> ... Yeah, come on now!
    Everybody is ready for Vegas.

BM: Oh man, we look forward to seeing you. Michael, it is going to be
great to see you up on stage and jammin' again.

MA: Oh, it's gonna be great. And a tune that I used to use, sometime
back .... we're comin' ... we're gonna tear the playhouse down.

BM: Alright, alright. Now I gotta ask you some questions. Van Halen
has been on hiatus for quite a while. Is Van Halen going to be a band
again? That's what all the calls we get ...

MA: Uh pardon me? You're cutting out there a bit. I wasn't doing that
    intentionally.

BM: Alright. Uh .. ya know ... all the calls we get at the radio station,
at KOMP, all the Van Halen fans .... The Van Halen fans they wanna
know, they wanna know one thing. Will Van Halen be a band again?
    Is it still gonna happen?

MA: Van Halen will be back. It's just uh ... there are certain things ....
uhhh.... kind of dictated us taking a little bit more time off than we
actually wanted to. Because you know, of course, the most important
thing to all of us is getting out there and playing for the fans.
    Because
that's ... that's ... been the life's blood of this band for the last,
    God ...
next year is going to be 25 years. But uh ... Van Halen will be back.
So tell all the Van Halen fans not to worry.

BM: Michael Anthony that is great news!

MA: I'm just havin' me a little fun in the meantime here, while we're on
    a break.

BM: Well, I bet it's good to get out of the house, ain't it?

MA: Well actually my wife's the one who's happy for me to be out of
    the house.

BM: <laughs> Alright and uh ... another question .. when was the last
time you talked to Eddie and how is he? Everyone wants to know,
and all the Van Halen fans ...

MA: Yeah, Eddie's great. Actually I talked to him last Tuesday evening.
    And uh ... he's doin' fine ... and I know he's, I know .. uh .... he's
    just
itchin' to get back out there and play. But uh .. he was in really good
spirits, and he's doin' really well.

BM: Alright, well you tell him, you tell him that all the Van Halen fans
in Vegas .. all the Van Halen fans that call KOMP 92.3 and ask for
Van Halen songs -- they're all concerned about him. They all send
    their best to Eddie.

MA: I'm sure he appreciates that, and he'll be seein' them all real soon.

BM: Oh, Michael Anthony -- can't wait 'til May 17th and 18th. You're
gonna be here with Sammy Hagar and the Waboritas. I hear that ...

MA: <maniacal laugh> I wish I was there right now doggonit.

BM: Well yeah, it's a good time here at the pool.

MA: I'm plannin' on comin' out a little early. So anybody hanging out
around the area there -- look out.

BM: Alright. Michael Anthony will be in town and ready to tear it up.
Alright, well you tell Sammy, you tell Neal, you tell Dean ... all you
guys .. hey good luck with this Planet Us project. We hope it turns
into something, a nice little side project that you might take out on
the road, and maybe even bring here to Vegas. And in the meantime
we'll be lookin' forward to you and Sammy and the Waboritas on
May 17th and 18th here at the Joint, at the Hard Rock.

MA: It's going to be Armageddon.

BM: And tickets are still available ..... people should come out here to
the Hard Rock right now and get 'em ... because both these shows
are definitely going to be sold out. Michael ... man, it's been great
    talkin' to ya, man.

MA: Big Marty -- ya know what ... we're gonna tip one poolside when
    I come out there.

BM: I like it! I'll be ready, Michael. I will be ready!

    MA: Alright!

BM: Alright, you tell the rest of the guys I said hi, and uh ... you
guys have fun tonight. Tear it up, man.

    MA: I will, Marty.

    BM: Alright. Thank you Michael.

    MA: Alright, take care.

good news, yeah, but it does seem there was more to (and possibly still a bit going on with) Eddie's cancer thing than we thought. Why would Mike say "he was in really good
spirits" if he was in perfect health? I reckon its definately Ed's health that's keeping them back.

And also, in relation to that other thread about the readio station ringing Ed about Val's birthday and him saying he is recording now and will be touring soon... well, unless they are doing all the instruments separately, they won't be recording if Mike is on a tour bus with another band will they?! I think that little story is a bunch of BS myself.

depending who you beleive, Mike doesn't play bass on the albums anyways, so if he's somewhere else, no work stoppage for Ed and Al...

Things like having no, singer, manager, producer, or road manager?

Still with the vague answers. But he did mention that Eddie was "in good spirits". That is usually what you say when someone is very sick but they aren't letting it get them down.

I'm begining to lean towards the cancer being the reason for the hiatus.

I think Mike has to toe the brother's line every time he's asked. No offence, but I don't believe a word he said about Van Halen.
