I just got back from a week in Cancun late Sunday Night and it was great.

But one day I was out shopping with my wife and i had on my red sammy shirt from this past summer's tour and it got alot of attention.

People came up to me and said things like "Sammy Hagar, Van Halen awesome" and "Cabo Wabo tequila is one of the best in Mexico."
(we found some in out hotel's store and I bought a few nips and finally tried some and it was great, my wife did a shot of Cuervo at the bar and i pulled out my nip and poured a shot, No fucking comparison at all between the two. It was the frist time in anout 12 years that I have had tequila and it was worth the wait.)

But back to the shirt, I got offers from the locals for it, and they all talk about how great Sammy is to the Mexican people. I know Cancun is nowhere close to Cabo, but he seems to be a well known man down there as well.

When the Sam & Dave show was up here last summer, WZLX had a contest (a sort of rcok and roll jeopardy) and the winner got backstage passes to the show and front row seats and also a trip to Cancun for some sort of Cabo Wabo thing that was going on.

AS far as Van Halen goes, I have been out of the loop for awhile and quite frankly just don't really care too much about them anymore. I hope the latest round of Sammy rumors is true or maybe they could go out with Sammy and let Ralph Saenz sing the Dave era tunes. But if they do anything again great, but if they don't, oh well, we still have our memories. Thats how I am approaching them from now on. I am just going to be as passionate as I once was anymore about them.

    Peace

    Way to go Sammy!

I'm sure the cantina brings in a ton of dough for the town. Plus, after the last hurricane that tore thru Cabo, Sammy pitched in and helped with the cleanup.

As for the tequila, I absolutely love it. Forget Cuervo.

Great to hear you had a good time, Eddymon. I never had Sammy' tequila. I guess I need to bite the bullet and buy a bottle. That Cuervo going down tastes like turpentine.

One question, which Sammy-T were you wearing??

    A dozen years without tequila?

The problem with most people's perception of tequila is that most people have only experienced Cuervo. Cuervo is good for only one thing: cheap, tasty margaritas.

Step up to the plate and get a bottle of Patron Anejo. For the price it's the best and smoothest tequila available. My preshow ritual is a shot of Patron Anejo with a couple slices of lime, and a Corona with lime.

If paying $40-$55 for a bottle of tequila is out of your reach, a reasonable substitute is Casadores Reposado. It's not Patron Anejo, but at around $25 a bottle it's as good as a lot of other tequilas that go for a lot more.

I've tried at least 20 top-shelf tequilas ranging in price from $20-$200 a bottle, and Patron Anejo is in my top 2. I tried Cabo Wabo (I think it was the silver...but it might've been reposado) for the first time at the Rush concert at Shoreline last September. It was better than Casadores Reposado...so yeah, it's good stuff.

    But it's not Patron Anejo...
