Was anyone at this show? Sammy's voice gave out in the middle of Aftershock, and the band just jammed for at least 30 Min. together. Pure, un-adltarated music at its best. NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!
    Anybody see that shit?

I was there. Sammy was sick and actually canceled the next couple of shows.

That Miami show was amazing. Ed, Al and Mike jammed while the audience sang the songs. Sammy was a trooper, but Ed showed that, when he wants, he can really turn it on for the fans.

That would have been awesome to see!! I've always preferred those little breaks in VH songs anyway....w/o a singer who very rarely does the music justice.

Maybe VH should just become an instrumental act??

I hadn't heard about that until just now. At least the fans got to hear what VH does best and that is just flat out jam!

10-4 man! It was the deal. I wish to God someone had it on video somewhere. It was like the 4th & final show show in Fla. (I had already seen Jax., Orlando & Tampa). Sam gave the "slit throat" signal to Ed & Co. & then he dissapeared for at least 30 min. (may have been more; a few drinks had gone down @ that point), and then the band got around Al's drums and just unleashed some of the best shit I've ever heard. I mean it was magical. The great thing about it....I hadn't ever heard them play any of the material they were jammin'. It was sort of like a dream of being in 5150 during a jam session. God I miss them.
You know, what would be the problem of them going out & doing something like that w/ Mikey doing vocals here and there. I mean, at least it would be something!
I can't describe to you the reaction of the fans when they were jammin'. Everyone was fuckin' motionless. It was the best moment I've ever been a part of @ a VH show (I've seen 'em 35 times-Dave & Sammy).
C'mon guys, get it together & just jam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it was stuff they had been tinkering around w/ during the Sam era. It had that vibe, you know. Just incredible. I mean that short stint would sell millions if it was ever released. We can only hope....
Forgot to answer your question-yeah, I've heard the old boots, but this was different. I can't explain it man, that's why I was hoping someone else may have been there to re-iterate.

most boring show ive ever been to.
If i wanted to sing all the words and have the singer not sing hardly any i could have saved my money and gone to a karioke bar.
I hopped on the metro-rail so fast and high tailed it out of there.
They were really really bad that night in my opinion.Sam was not only horrible that night vocally, but the whole band was just boring....They really could have used the diamond 1 to liven things up.Oh well,im not a sam fan.To each his own i guess.

How sad! Sorry you're so biased towards Sammy man. It was a great show, and DLR/Sammy had nothing to do w/ this thread. It was about a jam session. None of us will miss u when u hit that Karaoke bar dude.

More to the point, if you don't think listening to EVH, MA & Alex jammin', than you don't belong on this forum, or as a VH fan period. I respect the fact that maybe you didn't like the show, but please dude, don't let your love for DLR interrupt great music and experiences to be shared w/ other people on this forum. None of us will miss u when u hit that Karaoke bar dude.[/qb][/QUOTE]

Definately! You got to revel in such a unique VH experience. That is pretty cool and I'm a bit jealous . I could have watched the three of them jam for hours upon hours.......

Cool story! Would have loved to have seen it! I have always wished they would do instrumental jams rather than solos in concert.

I was there too! 3rd row, floor section, on Mikey's side. It was very cool, though the show was a bit shorter because of Sam's voice being so shot. Nonetheless, it was a unique show I wouldn't have missed.
