When (if ever) are the Van Hagar albums going to be re-released in a remastered form? I remember last year when the original six Van Halen albums were re-mastered and I thought that I heard the albums with Hagar would soon follow. However there has been no word as to when, (if ever) this will happen.

I sure would like this, as 5150 and OU812 in particular, could really benefit from a re-mastering!

i wouldn't hold your breath. mainly becuase the hagar era albums were all recorded during the CD age, while the 1st six weren't. so i think the thinking over at warners is they dont need to be remastered since they were released on CD when they were brand new records...

i know that may sound a little weird, but that's just my feeling...

i think the next thing will be a complete box set of the whole VH catalog with everything remastered. it's the easiest way for WB to cash in considering they'll never get anything new from Van Halen.

if i hear anything, i'll let you know. just don't be a bit surprised if the sammy era cds are remastered just in time for Christmas '02.

btw - even though the sammy cds were made during the cd era, they still were not mastered to fully take advantage of the bandwidth of digital audio. in fact, 5150 and 0U812 would benefit GREATLY from a remaster. To a lesser extent, maybe FUCK and LRHRN. Balance is pretty much up to snuff, though.

The catalog rights went to WB. In fact, it was the master tapes that Warner Bros. got. I believe they also got rights to all recordings done during the WB-era, which means outtakes as well. Fuck Hagar remasters. I want a five-CD box set of unreleased VH material. That'll be the most exciting box set in history for me!

OU812 doesn't just need a remaster. It needs to be completely rebuilt from the ground up.

As a matter of fact, the best idea would be for them to take the best tracks from 5150 & OU812, dump the cheese ballads and worthless shit like Inside and Source of Infection, and reissue it as one "improved" CD. I'd buy it.

Whoa Nellie! "I'll Wait" is definitely a bastard child being that it's a moody pop-synth tune that was never performed much live. But Al's pedal work and Ed's guitar solo are amazing.

Thanks guys. Glad to know there was still an opportunity to turn this into a Sam vs. Dave bashing thread.....

I hope they DO release the Hagar era VH albums in remastered form. As I said before, in particular 5150 and OU812 need remastering the most!

A 5 disc box set of unreleased material? (even though I'd probably own much of it on bootleg CD's I own, I'd sure as shit buy it! Especially if the packaging and linear notes were well thought out!)

Maybe there WILL be some good from the WB spilt with VH. Maybe if WB truly has legal right over the song output we'll finally get to purchase some of that shit in an official capacity!

Well, I would expect that the EGO TWINS will try to get these released this summer to steal the thunder from the Sam and Dave Tour...

I asked Brad Starks if they were ever going to remaster the Sammy era and his reply was that there are plans in place to do it. They just don't know when.

Oh...and FORD, I'll put 0U812 up against ANY of that Mumbo Jumbo bullshit, David "Weave" Roth EVER put out!
