I am still convinced the Rock Hall of Fame is pretty lame. They have yet to induct Black Sabbath, which is absurd. But they took a step in a cool direction for a minute by inducting AC/DC!!! I am so stoked for these dudes. I also think this will help VH's cause tremendously.
I just can't fathom AC/DC getting in and not VH.. No way.. It would have been really cool if VH and AC/DC coulda gone in together. But VH aint eligible till 2003. And I doubt the Hall woulda gone for that anyways, wankers that they are..

Along with AC/DC, The Clash, The Police, The Righteous Brothers & Elvis Costello also got in.

Elvis Costello getting voted in may indeed prove Diamond Dave's theory that "the reason critics like Elvis Costello so much is cuz he fuckin' looks like one of them."

If AC/DC can get in, Van Halen should be a shoe in, but who the hell knows.

Congrats to AC/DC. But if Angus Young can get in knowing how to play only three chords then Edward should be a no-brainer for induction to the Hall!

Hats off to AC/DC the worlds greatest rock n roll band. The very first music I owned was Let There Be Rock. No boy meets girl ballads here. Just in your face, kick ass rock n roll. I caught the Stiff Upper Lip Tour last year,( Which was a sold out show) and they opened up with You Shook Me All Night Long. These guys know how to treat their fans. Van Halen could learn a thing or twelve from the boys from down under.

One thing you can say about AC/DC. They didn't get any softer when they replaced their singer. They are the very definition of a rock and roll band. Even Ed said he hated following them when they played a festival their first year on the road.

The only band that may rival the Who and Van Halen for long term hearing loss. I read somewhere that their monitor volume is 120db. That's insane!

To this day, I hear an AC/DC tune, and I feel like popping the cap on a brew or pushing the pedal to the metal, or both

No I'm not a tech head. As a matter of fact I can't play a note. I was just making a joke. Ever since I was in high school people have made this assumption about Angus and that every AC/DC song sounds the same, etc. I think the boys kick ass, and VH could learn a lesson from them regarding "keeping the fans" happy!

Even though I don't play, I will say this...There is no greater air-guitarist on the planet than me (much to my wife's dismay when we are at a concert). Peace! AP5150

I'm glad that AC/DC got in because that should pave the way for bands like Van Halen. I agree that VH will get in but when is another story. Hopefully, they will get in the first year. After all that's happened (or not happened) in the past few years, it would really give us something to celebrate.

Congrats to AC/DC !

What a shame THE MAN himself (Bon Scott) is not around for this. Its pointless comparing Angus to Ed. Totally different styles. Angus does a lot with his basic pentatonic scales, and has written so many catchy Rock Riffs you literally lose count of them. A Band that is uncompromising in its dedication, love of Rock and yes, the fans !
They have been out there for nearly three decades
and have never compromised their music. No
deliberate Radio Pop Riffs spattered with "Love" from these legends. Yet they are still one of the most successful Rock bands on the planet.

Apart from Van Halen and Sabbath, can you think of
anyone more deserving of this honor ?

VH is not eligible until next year's nominations. If there is the current lack of inactivity on their part they may not be a shoe-in like everyone thinks. By the way...anyone else besides me pissed off that they keep overlooking Lynyrd Skynyrd?

Skynyrd isnt in yet?!?!? Neither is Alice Cooper!?!?? Unreal... Like I said, the Hall if pretty lame overall.

Anyhow, I fuckin' LOVE AC/DC, especially with Bon Scott. He is one of my faves man, no doubt. I was just listening to my fave AC/DC album, 'Powerage', earlier today and that shit still kicks my ass.. And not only is Angus badass, he is no doubt one of Ed's influences. I feel that gets overlooked sometimes, but I believe it. AC/DC, especially the early Bon Scott years, influenced VH a lot I think. Angus has that raw blues rock thing going on and Malcolm just lays it down..

VH is eligible in 2003, not for 2003. You come up for induction 25 from the release of your first album. VH debuted Feb. 1978, so Feb. 2003 they become eligible..
