Let's say on the next record, VH hired a slew of rap artists to write and produce the next album, and a few of them guest star on some of the tracks. Explain your initial reaction to this record "VAN HALEN & CREW - DIRRTY WATA DAWGZ".

(What can I say, I'm extremely bored!)

I'm picturing Sammy back in the band, with his hair braided in cornrows.

I would pitch all hopes of VH saving rock and roll at that point. They'd just be cashing in on a style of music which I detest. I would at that point rethink my position on bands like Metallica which I think have sucked for years now...it would elevate the sucky groups to new heights automatically if VH did what you are proposing. UCK!!
Van Halen without the original 4 is just not Van Halen.

I like older Outkast (Aquemeni and before) and some Tupac. Those guys are really artist who had somthing to say and said it. But I don't like the thought of those two things combining into somthing, I like rock with one side of my brain and rap with another side. And It wouldn't mix well at all. And any one who sees rap as soley an angry, or derogotory form of music need to listen a little more closely to some Art of Story telling part two by Outkast or The song Dear Mama by Tupac.

Eminem for singer #4???!!!
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

I would wonder how my favourite band couldn't see the silent "C" in "rap".

That said, I remember hearing something about Mike saying he couldn't stand rap.
Right now, rock n' roll needs a swift kick in the...<br /><br />"Gimme a bottle o' anything... and a glazed donut... to go!"

I think it's unlikely VH will ever save rock.

After Metallica collaborated with Ja Rule, I've concluded that any rock/hip hop collaboration is possible. Hmm what about past collaborations. Aerosmith (Joe Perry) and Nelly, Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page) and Puff Daddy. Why not Eddie and DMX?
