It was obvious the band was more pop oriented since 1985. How will the new album do? I doubt there will be any "love" songs. Aerosmith came back, but they've had numerous power ballads. Kiss, well Kiss was in it just for the money and really only lasted for a 5 year nostalgia tour.

The BOV1 tunes were definitely radio quality. I am really loking forward to the new album. I realize the hunger of the first years may be gone, but Ed has a more refined quality sound now. All it takes is a listen to Me Wise Magic. Whereas those two songs were good, Dave's voice wasn't in top form. He is in shape now, his voice sounds good, this next album can be great. I hope they are definitely radio tunes. I know some of you don't care, but if they are played on the radio more people will rejoin the Van Halen juggernaut. If it could happen for Aerosmith it can happen to VH.

I would bet that Van Halen will do everything in order to promote themselves as best they can.

i think, thats allways a issue for any band
do they care to be radio friendly
yes i think vanhalen with dave will strive for radio friendly music.
    they cant afford not too.
saying dave is back with vh, they wont be considered a successful reunion with out a radio friendly album.
atleast 3 songs that they definetly feel will have success with charts.
if they put out a album with all new materail and it didnt make radio for more than two weeks, vh would probally say fuck this fuck it all.
but i dont see it, van halen is so capeable of putting out great sounding tunes.
weather its a hard song or a nice rocking but yet mellow song,
with dave id imagine atleast one song that is gonna really rock and set the tone of the album by being released first, then a little bit diffrent sounding rocking yet not so hard one, and as far as what i think i imagine eddie dave working extra hard this time on a song that dave has done yet with van halen one that is a real moody type song with emotion with that hint of ledzep style and classical sound of a allmost ballad like song where eddie really shows finess and daves voice just glides with the playing and a great harmony back ground to create a awesome song.
    cant wait

I think it will be kind of like the release of Star Wars episode 3. Sure all the die hard fans lined up for it, but it just didn't have the same effect on the younger generation that most thought it would. I think most of us older fans will line up to buy it but the new "generation net" won't even take a look at it. They will be busy listening to all the crap that is big now, Britteny, NSYNC, CORN, etc. Sad but true. Where did all the talent go?

You know...I think in the right Rock and Roll circles....this album will produce a few radio friendly songs. The classic Rock and straight Rock and Roll stations will eat up a couple of the songs...no doubt about it. Don't worry about the younger crowd...good rock and roll is good rock and roll...

If you build it...THEY WILL COME!!!!

Wow, SpanishFly, I almost mistook you for Shakespeare.

I think that the new album will definitely be better suited for radio than "3" was.

Everything that "Classic VH" did is playable on the radio. CGTSNM and MWM were both great songs for the radio.

There shouldn't be any problems finding an audience on the radio.

I don't know if anyone is looking for top 40. Hell...you don't need top 40 play to get airplay...and lots of it. I'm just looking for those Classic Rock Stations...and Rock Stations that will play it with a shitload of regularity...

Yeah...but hell...there is nothing like driving down the street, and hearing your favorite bands new song...or old song for that matter...come on the radio. I mean...I know I don't speak for myself when I say that I can tell you exactly where I was the last five or six opening releases for VH when I heard them on the radio. Yeah, when VH releases a song...I'm on the radio listening.

Besides...they usually release a song a month in advance of the disc!!!

Good Point , about the only time I EVER listen to radio is to hear new Van Halen or David Lee Roth , I am pretty self indulgent on what I listen to . It's like I got a 6 disc changer in my Blazer , who needs radio , but thats just me and my opinion thats all

Yeah, just like You're Breathin' It...

Seriously, it depends on how friendly radio is to the new VH. They'll get play on classic and contemporary rock stations. As to where else... well, that kind depends on the single, and the fans that it draws. One would hope it'd be on everything from NPR to country to pop, but that's not gonna happen. I can see hip-hop, though.

Van Halen just has to get lucky like Santana and all those other Rock stars that made it to the Top 40 stations magically. Nobody knows how this stuff happens, but it does. All that they need is one general song that has a good point and they could go somewhere. Nobody knows if they will, but groups like Bon Jovi are lucky enough to be popular still. Again, we don't know how these groups get popular again, but it happens, somehow. MTV support is the key to airplay on the radio. VH3 didn't make it, because VH3 wasn't a radio or MTV friendly album. "Without You" could've made it, but nobody was amazed by it. We'll have to see how people take it...even we don't know what to expect. I don't think VH will write anything close to what we would expect. I really expect to be surprised with a new sound from them.
