Who here remembers the days (late 70s/early 80s) when everyone had their favorite bands logo painted on the back of a denim jacket?

I remember seeing: The Rolling Stones tongue, the classic VH logo, a beautiful YesSongs jacket, The Who of course, Pink Floyd's Dark Side, Tull Thick as a Brick, Great Zeppelin work Zep4 & Houses of The Holy.

Just something I was remembering. Pretty elaborate, and only $20 for the paint job if I remember correctly.

I have one on the back of my old denim jacket. I had the band sign it when I was in Japan. I sprayed a protective coating over their signatures that night, and haven't worn it since.

My son also had his own, san signatures, when he was about 3, and wore it all the time.

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

I took art lessons for years and in the heyday I was the best in Suffern High School. I painted jackets with the covers from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden (I can still draw Iron Maiden's Eddie from memory), Rush, Ratt, the Crue, etc. I used to charge $60-80 a jacket.

I had 2 jackets that I did for myself. A denim jacket with the 1984 cover on it and a baseball jacket with the Eat 'Em & Smile cover. Unfortunately, my parents tossed them both when they moved.

I painted myself one with Iron Maiden's Eddie.
Pretty cool to remember this stuff.

I still have a denim jacket I had airbrushed of Eddie back in 1988. It was done by an artist in the East Village of Manhattan. It came out AMAZING! It is a painting of Eddie from the OU812 Tour book, most notably, the "When Its Love" video, with his striped Kramer and giving the thumbs up with that smile. I also saved another denim jacket with logo patches attached to them. ( =VH=, Scorpions, Dokken, GNR.) I just had to keep it! It represents a great time in my life.
