I'm not sure if this belongs in main or songs, so please forgive me. I just bought the massive computer system at home(That's why there are alot more posts from me), anyway I'm trying my damnest to build the most incredible VH, DLR live and unreleased library. You guys will shit when you find out what I have obtained. Those that I OWE are going to be happy once I learn how to burn cd's.

Anyway, I have Sheryl Crow and Ed doing The Stones "Bitch" live and I'm sure most of you are familiar with it. I have never heard of it. So, when was it recorded and what do you guys think? I think it fucking rocks!!!

I re-read that OWE shit and I apologize if it came off as being rude. I just owe a few people around here and I wanted to let them know that I will take care of them however I can. Thanks.

Like I stated, I've never heard of it but I listened very carefully several times and it's definately the brownsound. It is Ed. Do any of you know when it was done? Sheryl has only been around(musically ) since 1994 or '95 hasn't she?

Twona is right, it's from that Garage band special in 96 I believe. There's a few other tunes that Ed plays on (I Fought The Law, Get Back and some others) but Eddie really overplays whenever he solos. Constantly goes to the tapping whenever it's his solo spot, and it seems out of place in the songs.

From VH.com

City of Hope Benefit - 10/16/96
Universal City, CA
(Aired on VH1: 3/08/97)

Edward took part in this benefit concert honoring VH1 president John Sykes. The music industry as a whole selects one person to honor each year, and it is the responsibility of that individual to organize a benefit of their choice to raise money for the City of Hope Hospital - the leading medical and research center in the USA.
Other performers included Late Night with David Letterman band leader Paul Shaffer (who also acted as musical director), Steve Winwood, John Mellencamp, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora, Sheryl Crow, drummer Max Weinberg, ex-Eagles vocalist Don Henley, and Melisssa Etheridge among others.

While most of the performers took part in every song, Edward did not. He instead chose to sprinkle licks and provide solos to only the songs listed below. He played through a small amplifier and switched back and forth between a cream-colored Peavey Wolfgang and a white Peavey Wolfgang Jr. prototype.

On "I Fought the Law" (sung by Mellencamp), Edward played a cream Wolfgang and shared guitar duties with Adams and Sambora.

For the Rolling Stones classic "Bitch," Edward layed back a little on lead guitar while Crow belted out a raspy vocal. Edward wrapped up the song with an extended solo. "Come On Everybody" (written by Eddie Cochran and Jerry Capehart) featured Adams on lead vocals. Edward switched to the Wolfgang Jr. and provided some serious whammy bar-induced soloing. "Gimme Some Lovin'" again featured Edward on the Wolfgang Jr. prototype and Steve Winwood handled lead vocals.

The Van Morrison classic "Gloria" featured Mellencamp on lead vocals, Henley on drums and Sambora and Edward sharing lead guitar. Sambora played a very tasty wah-wah solo with Edward adding his own choice solo morsel using the crème Wolfgang.

The Beatles' "Get Back" was the show's encore and was completely unrehearsed. Sambora stepped to the front to sing lead (along with Etheridge) and he and Edward (still using the crème Wolfgang) again shared lead guitar duties

Really, who else was in involved in the jam? It makes some sense though in two ways. First, from listening to "Bitch" I really could not identify Ed until the solo. I did have to give it a good listen until I knew for sure it was Ed. So, in an "All Star Jam" situation like that it seems as if that was the only way for him to "stand out" so to speak. Secondly, Ed seems to have a real inferiority complex regarding singers. So maybe that playing his signature tapping was the only way that he felt he could really identify himself. Any thoughts?
