Well some people didn't like this month's poll and it was a bit ambiguous, so I have re-worded it a bit. It now asks, "Which Era Of Eddie's Playing Do You Prefer?" and goes by the three singer's album years. So hopefully that will cut down on the confusion. So go to the Main Page and re-vote.

Yeah, that's probably a better way of putting it. By "better", I mean...blah blah blah.

...i would have to say the dave era...i'm notsaying. it was better...i mean when a new singer comes along , as much as we wont really admit it ...it changes everything .the frequency's sam was blowing enabled each member to tweek their instuments a different way...als drums got louder....the band tuned different.....when u listen to the dave era ...eds guitar is were it is supposed to be....daves lyrics walked the attitude with eds guitar playing

    (1) Dave should not bash Sammy or Gary on stage because that does not make for a DLR-style show. Even 1986, when Sammy and Ed would dance around with anti-Dave banners, Dave did not make reprisals part of his show. Those of us who saw both tours will probably admit that the EEAS tour made the 5150 show look like a junior high battle of the bands. Nothing I have seen can top Dave-Vai-Sheehan in 1986.
    (2) Dave should not waste any time trying Sammy tunes. There are a ton of old VH tunes that I would rather hear. If he is going to do any Sammy tunes, I'd love to hear then DLR version of "Summer Nights" that was allegedly arranged and demo'ed before Dave left in 1986.
    (3) The Dave-Sammy clash is old and tired. Both have lead very different bands with the same name -- Van Halen. While I admittedly prefer the DLR vintage, there were many great moments during the Sammy years. Let the hostility go already. Truth is, both were probably screwed by Ed and Al.

    Brett,
    Thanks.

    Top Timmy,
Don't feel bad, no heat was intended, just a constructive suggestion to clarify what was being asked.

    Peace
