If you want some great in-depth insight as to why Van Halen may have severed ties with Warner Brothers, read the linked article below written by Eric Boehlert at salon.com. Eric knows his shit. And his article speaks volumes about what is going on right here...right now.

Maybe if music wasn't such garbage today, people would actually be buying CD's and going to concert. I bought exactly ONE CD in 2001--the remastered Diver Down album.

I have to agree the music sucks nowdays. I'm 19 and I've only bought 1 new cd thats not a van ahlen cd. And that was the new run dmc cd. If i didn't work at a cd store for all of 99-00 I would've only bought like less than 10 cd's. everyone's been on a decline from their last cd too. Limp bizkit, Kid Rock, Mariah, Nsync, It's just not Van Halen.

Kid Rock's pretty cool. Heard him and Hank Williams Jr. want to do a tour together. And Mariah is one hot piece of ass. Other than that I agree. Today's music blows. Break out the Led Zepplin.

As far as albums go, alot of garbage out there, but good stuff too, if you search for it. AS far as concerts???? Well the concert industry has been raping the consumer for the last 6 years, and we don't want to be raped anymore...FUCK EM'.....drop the prices...

Perhaps you should broaden your horizons a bit. There is a ton of great new music out there, it just may not be in the form you've been used to.

Explore, experiment, enjoy.

Indie labels still promote fresh and challenging music. Actually, only major label productions I bought last year were the 3 VH remasters and one Finnish album.

Nonetheless, I bought 12 albums from bands who sell maybe 50.000-100.000 records worldwide, and was extremely pleased with every single one.

It only demands a little bit of net research, and there's no need to go so "underground" with your music taste at all.

btw what's wrong with mullets? I don't have one though!

I agree, there's very little out there worth listening to anymore. And the End of Year RS was just damn depressing. I'm sick of all these whiney bands and their depressing songs or the angry rappers, and Kid Rock is fugly

The trouble is that where I'm living now in Tampa, radio is so limited - there's classic rock or new rock, so you never get a good mix unless it specifically falls into one of those two categories. I like Mick Jagger's new song and Lenny Kravitz has a good groove and I like No Doubt, but they don't fit so you don't hear em and I'll be damned if I'll listen to ten songs by Spears and the boy bands to get one good one. To me, everything sounds the same. Maybe I'm getting old but I miss Van Halen, Aerosmith, Led Zep and all those hard rocking bands. It's entertainment, it's supposed to be fun.
Could this be magic?

I picked up all the VH remasters at Wal-mart for $12.88 each (not at the same time). I've seen em there for even less since. Most CD's there are 13.88. Between that and Music Trader (Used CD place), I do OK. You're right $19.50 is too damn much.

And KID ROCK is bangin' Pam Anderson, hell he's doing better than we are.

I don't have much of a problem with current music. Sure it's in a slump but it's been worse. Yeah some I like I'll forget about in no time like Linkin Park and Saliva but a few like Disturbed, Incubus, and Godsmack are pretty damn good. And there's always a rock slump every 10 years or so. All in all SOS!
