I would love to hear Mike 'get off' a bit more on bass. I miss his playing style on earlier albums. I'm not talking about les claypool stuff, but just a bit more flare. (that is, if he's allowed to do so, HA.) To stay on subject, Mike's voice is great. It's hard to pick just one, but from Dave era, I'd say, DROP DEAD LEGS and from Sammy era, I'd say WHEN IT'S LOVE.

The first one that springs to mind is "Summer Nights", but there's loads of stuff... Especially on OU812 actually...

...Hey! It does have a redeeming feature! Mikey's album!

I think sometimes folks overlook Mikey because he's the bass player, taking a backseat to Eddie, whoever is singing, and maybe even Alex because he's Ed's brother.

I listened to VH2 the other day and never really realized how big a part Mikey's vocals are to the sound of the band. Take his singing out of a song like "Beautiful Girls" and it just ain't gonna be the same. Same for "Women In Love" too, along with countless others.

JUST LIKE PARADISE ?

just kidding.....anyway I always thought the backing vocals to that song was alot like mikes and VH sounding.

but I agree VH2 was the best vocals between dave and mike!

His background vocals are a HUGE part of the VH sound. There are so many excellent moments from which to choose. I'll take the sweet harmonies of "Jamie's Cryin'" if it's gotta be just one.
"With me in the band, it's one of those miraculous 97-97 deals. It's 97 percent you and 97 percent moi. Is it Mick or Keith? I don't know" -DLR

"We eventually started playing clubs, and we also did weddings. We played everything from the Ohio Players to K.C. & the Sunshine Band. You would love the sight of Van Halen doing 'Get Down Tonight'! But by the third set when everybody was good and tanked up--boy, we'd be blazin'!" -Michael Anthony
