We know that David said they wrote three amazing songs and we also know that "Magic Carpet Ride" is listed on ASCAP as a VH song. Who's to say they did not record other covers or even redo classic VH songs. That would coinside with Mike saying it was a return to early VH...

It's really hard to imagine Eddie wanting to do a bunch of cover songs or re-doing a bunch of classic VH songs.

I'm not saying an album of them but they've done them on tour and that's how they started off. All I know is I hope to god that Eddie isn't their lead singer... I cannot imagine a whole album of How Many Say I.

I would love for Van Halen (w/Dave) to scratch out a cover or two for the next release. Van Halenized (w/Dave) covers were always so awesome.

Again, New music is essential, but a cover or two would be fine, and would lead me to believe that Ed and the boys are having fun again. IMO !!

If they were confident the relationship with Dave was going to work, they could have (or still could if the new album won't be for another year ) released an EP of cover stuff or quick studio jams of some of their earlier demo work. Sort of like the Metallica Garage Days stuff.

Of course, I don't believe for a second that VH would ever do that, just a suggestion.

No more covers, please!! No matter who is singing I hope the album has all new material, no covers or re-done old songs.

Covers would be okay, but I'd rather not have them. Now redoing some old, unreleased tunes would be cool. Or tease the crowd by playing the Mean Street intro and then singing the lyrics to Voodoo Queen.

The only covers I ever want to see VH involved in are the red, white, and black striped sheets, blankets (electric ones, too), bedspreads, and pillow slip covers to make a complete 5150 ensemble.

Other than that, oh please, to ALL higher powers that anyone has ever prayed to, no more covers.

It depends on what song(s) they would cover.

Big Bad Bill was great, for instance.

Dancing In The Streets sucked. LOL.

But if you go through the list, VH have picked great songs to cover. YRGM, Ice Cream Man, You're No Good (screw you guys, that cover was good ), BBB, WHATGTG, Happy Trails...

Outside of Dancing In The Street, I think all the covers VH did were great.
