some of you guys make me laugh....you call a song that is softer or mellower or maybe even pretty,
cheese....a softer song can be just as intense or emotional as a real banger...you can have some motherfuckers up there goin crazy and have walls of marshal stacks and you can have one person on a piano come out and be just as heavy or emotional
it's a feel thing..just cuz somethin's loud and fast does not make it any more intense than something done slower...or quieter...
but i still love the ,go crazy, scream and yell stuff too...but there are times when cheese tastes pretty damn good too....i'm sure ed's pretty into his playin when it's mellower or on a piano alone...but some of ya's don't get it i guess....go ahead ya bastard's flame away ...lmao..

Its not necessarily the music that makes van haggard cheesier....its the blatant crappy lyrics. Now I will say that VH efforts to hit top 40 with those songs are just pathetic and I see right through that crap. What baffles me is how a band can go from an album like 1984 and write 5150. The music and the cheese was subpar. I'm sorry...I know I am going to end up on the Haggard fans crap list, but oh well.
Van Halen without the original 4 is just not Van Halen.

I like all types of songs, ballads, mid-tempo and heavy songs. I like heavy songs the best, but not all of the time. That is a big reason why Van Halen is my favorite band because they have so much variety of songs, from Judgement Day to When It's Love to Take Your Whiskey Home. Bands like AC/DC don't have half of the variety that VH has.

Anyway, this topic is better suited to VH Opinions so I will move it there.

I can't stand rap....people who can't sing do rap....you can sing rebellion as well as talk it....Hitler would have been in a rap band...
