Can I get a witness?

Is it me, or is Alex's drumming during the guitar solo in Jump fucking TASTY?!? He's got some kind of offbeat syncopation Neil Peart-type thing going on. It's outrageous. Give it a listen.

Can any drummers comment?

Its the one song where Alex' drumming REALLY stands out!

I know exactly what you mean....that drumming is awesome.

Not to mention hot for teacher, it almost seems he's got more going on there than humanly possible, even with the double bass pedals

I'm not that talented enough to know about the fine details of the music.

But as for the drumming, I just love "In and Out" from Carnal Knowledge. I love the drumming behind the guitar solo. I don't know what Alex is hitting to get that tin-can sounding noise, but I always air-drum to that part!

The guy's a monster...I just wish he'd stop that fucking lame doubling effect at the end of his solo where "the b-52 takes off......"

It's flashy, cheap and lame..... About like Mike's bass solo.... Mike seems capable of so much more.....

I liked Alex's solo on the 3 tour. It was the stand out of the show. He had some cool, almost ostinato-ish rythyms going on.

Alex is at his best on 1984.
Best production(Those kick drums are HUGE)
and probably his most progressive playing i.e.
JUMP(solo), HFT(whole damn song), Girl Gone Bad

I think Alex's entire drumming on For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge is awesome.

1984 might have the best production, along with fairbain on balance, but it probably is big al's best. 5150 would be up there, but i think he used some crappy drum pad or something. whatever it is, the sound sucks.

his past drum solo's were cool. i'd be just as happy if all three mixed in their solo's to extended jams & re-arranged songs. then there's not so much that sensation of, "oh, here's the drum solo. i gotta go take a piss."

Alex is great. I've always loved his drumming on Pleasure Dome.

I've always maintained that Al is one the best and underrated drummers in rock. He is overshadowed by Ed. I think his best playing was during the Roth era, especially live. Anyone ever hear London Invasion 80? I think some of his studio higlights include Hear About it Later, Outta Love Again, On Fire. Live i always dug Little Guitars, Jamie's Cryin and of course Hot For Teacher and Everybody Wants Some. Personally I think he's a prick though. But what do I know?

Are you serious dude?? I guess that would explain how he managed to pull off the triplets on the bell of the ride during all that other shit.
