What was some of the stuff Dave and Sam were saying about each other on Howard Stern today?

Since somebody brought it up in another forum, I'll repeat the address here - www.dlrband.net. That's where you can find a 38-minute mp3 of the whole segment.

Plenty of little jabs between Sam and Dave, with a few more directed at "the brothers". Seems a little foolish to take them as anything other than playful at this point - Dave ultimately says that the rivalry extends only so far as the last bell and the first beer.

Let's hope they both mean it.

Personally, I think they're just playing out the "heavyweights" theme of the concert. Just like boxers always talk shit before a match.

Agreed. They even made reference to boxing at one point didn't they? Something about this is more like Tyson/Lewis then Elson/(couldn't hear the other name).

Sorry... not a big student of boxing, though I love to watch a good fight

If you check in the Sam and Dave forum, you'll find several threads with specifics and discussion. The link to the audio is excellent, and if you missed it, it's worth the listen and the grins.

Honestly, it seemed like they were having fun. There were a couple of times when it sounded like Sam was getting annoyed cuz Dave didn't let him talk... but it was really a fun listen

The more I think about it, for what it's worth, the "heavyweights" theme was a really good concept for Sam and Dave.

What has been the hottest topic on any of the =VH= related boards for the past several years, aside from perhaps the 'reunion'?

Dave vs. Sam, that's what! They must know that any perceived rivalry between the two will only help "get butts in the seats".

The people who think this tour won't last because they won't get along - think again - I bet Dave and Sam will be fighting all the way to the bank!

However, I think ultimately one or both of them will lose out when the real =VH= tour gets on the road.

The heavyweights theme is fine - to a point, but I could see someone saying something that just crossed the line and then the gloves would be off. Personally, I don't see how Sammy is going to compete with Roth and a full Van Halen catalog. If they come around here and Dave was on first, I'd leave after that. If Sammy was on first, I wouldn't be too worried about partying in the parking lot till I was ready. I think they might even find that to be true anywhere on both sides. People are going to come out to see Sammy because they like his solo stuff and people are going to come out to see Dave because they want Van Halen. Only the diehard and very curious are going to pay attention to the entire show. I guess it boils down to who has the biggest audience in any given city.

Another thing that will be interesting is if there is anything on the table in the backburner for a reunion with Dave, when and if it happens, I wonder what will be said then? I hope nothing because I'm sick of all the mudslinging with these guys.
Could this be magic?

I've been thinking... and who knows? Maybe by doing this tour together... they're showing the brothers that they could BOTH do a VH tour... one set with Sam, and the next with Roth?

I know nothing, but... if they can do this why couldn't they share a billing touring with Van Halen??

Problem is, I don't think Eddie wants to work with either of them, much less BOTH of them.
