Line them up people... I wanna know what bands you have heard cover VH tunes and wether they did them justice or wether they totally butchered it to hell!!
It can be on an album or live in concert...
I really trip out on seeing people you wouldnt expect cover VH.. Like when the Mighty Mighty Bosstones covered "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" on one of their albums some years back.. Who woulda thought? Or like when I saw Pearl Jam cover "Running With The Devil" live in concert! That was pretty damn trippy, to put it mildly..
I still dont think I have recovered from that disaster..

Smash Mouth covered RWTD and it was amazing! I had heard they released a cover version of it on a tribute album - but, I have never seen it - found it; if anyone has the MP3 - please email me.

I was also snooping on Kazaa and saw that Phish does a RWTD cover - but I wasn't able to download that..
Winners come and go; legends are forever.

There are several VH tribute albums in existence right now, and Smashmouth's cover of "RWTD" isn't on any of them.

The absolute best VH tribute album out there is "Little Guitars". It consists mostly of 80's metal artists, and, for the most part, the songs they chose to cover are actually pretty good. The only really fucked up one is Stephen Pearcy covering "RWTD". Man...he just rapes the shit outta that one. Totally kills it.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

-George Carlin 1937 - 2008

Cool deal... I have also heard that Ynwgie Malmsteen did Aint Talkin Bout Love, along with parts of Eruption live in concert.. Mike Watt's band The Minutemen covered this tune as well for one of their albums.... I am pretty sure there are other bands who have tried to do VH tunes lives..

Smash Mouth does do a pretty smokin' cover of RWTD, you can download it from this website. My only complaint is that they don't use background vocals for the chorus.

The 4 non blondes did a pretty horrible cover of "I'm The One".

Aztec Camera covered "Jump" in the eighties. EVH didn't like the cover.

The best tribute CD to VH is called "Everybody Wants Some".

I feel it captures the VH spirit much better than the "hair band" tribute. These guys only understood VH on a technical level, they didn't "get" the spirit of VH.

Whereas this CD does (it was released by Roadrunner records). It's subtitled "a loose interpretation of the musical genius of Van Halne". On the cover is a guy getting it on with his lady...

You get a version of Jamies' Cryin in spanish with some latino rythms, Little Guitars played on a cello, Panama with a brass section, a country version of WCTBL, and a rendition of Eruption on a banjo!

I was at knotts scary farm a few days ago, and heard a techno version of Aint talkin' 'bout love.

I think your talking about "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Dub" by Apollo 440. Bus Stop did a dance version of "Jump" a couple of years ago as well...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

Yeah, and don't forget the bluegrass version of "Dance the Night Away" and the church organ doing "Eruption". Classic stuff!

I've got a couple mp3's of other bands doing a VH song on my site.

ClassicVanHalen.com multimedia section

They are Dream Theatre's version of Mean Street and Ween doing Hot for Teacher.

I've got a bunch more but I've got to find the time to post them.

By the way, my favorite cover was Jack Russell and Dweezil Zappa doing Unchained.

Where on that Smash Mouth site can you hear "RWTD?" I checked the audio & video and the complete music section and saw nothing. I saw it listed but you couldn't play it. Please help because I wanna hear this. Thanks.
