    This is from an interview with former Skid Row lead singer... Mr. Bach. Read this...its really intresting and I believe this guy..
    its from a Chicago based web-site.

    CRC: I heard a rumor...that you were approached to sing for Van Halen.

    Bach: Man...if i had a dollar for every time...EVERYBODY asks me that, dude, EVERYBODY. It's on MTV News! Yesterday, it's all on MTV News, "Sebastian Bach denies Van Halen rumors." I've never been asked, man! The closest I came to being in Van Halen was: Skid Row opened for Van Halen in '95, their last tour with Sammy Hagar. We played the World, I think, in Chicago? or is that Cleveland?

    CRC: That's...here in Chicago.

    Bach: Yeah, we played there with Van Halen. And, basically...basically, uh, Ray Daniels, their manager, we'd come backstage after every Skid Row show and...uh, (he'd) ask me for pot. "Hey, 'Bas, man, who's got the bud, brother? Heeeeeey! Let's smoke, let's get high!" I'd be like, (patronizing) "OKAY, RAY! I'm sure I can russle up some for you from the road crew," not that I'd ever personally break the law. (laughs) But Ray loves to do that and I would get it for him, and then Doc McGee told me when they were hiring Gary Cherone that he talked to Ray about me joining Van Halen and Ray said, "Oh, yeah, Eddie and Alex did mention Sebastian Bach's name, but I can't have anyone that has anything to do with pot, or has a pot problem, around the boys, just out of rehab." And I go, "excuse me? Pot problem? My only pot problem is that Ray Daniels smoked it all." (laughs) It's like this guy hangs out as Mr. Buddy Buddy Buddy, and then turns around and does that. That's the closest it came, so...

    CRC: Better you than Gary Cherone.

    Bach: Well, hey man, I don't know...the thing is, I'd like just the chance to try out. If I tried out and they thought I stunk, that would be one thing, but they've never even heard me sing Roth, and I can sing that Roth stuff right on, and I can also do the Hagar stuff. But I guess we've come
    to an odd point in time where it's okay to be the president of the United States and smoke pot but you can't be the lead singer of Van Halen. (bursts into maniacal laughter) What in the hell is wrong with this picture?

    Sebastian Bach would have been a better choice IMO than Gary , I like his sense of humor and he just displayed it in your little thing there , I can't smoke pot , due to my job , plus I never liked it anyways . Some of my buddies get high , thats cool with me but I can't and don't . I like Rum and Coke and Miller Lite

    Talk about a voice that wouldn't fit Van Halen. Skid Row was always just a poor man's GNR to me, I never thought much of Bach's ability honestly.

    Yeah I know what you mean Brett , but I think his image would fit Van Halen better , long blond hair , like a young version of Dave ect..
    I don't care for his voice but IMO I think maybe his image so to speak would maybe have went over better than Gary's .

    I guess, but he's definitely not a versatile singer at all, very one-dimensional.

    And if so,any one know what Ray looks like? This might be the guy I bumped into "backstage".Creeeeepy!!
    Who would wear a suit backstage???
    I've got a visual in my mind.....and
    I think it's Ray Daniels.

    This one dude in the INSIDE mag said Ray looks like Rutger Hauer . But I like Rutger , ever seen that movie Deadlock ?
    He's in prison and if you go outside of a yellow line the collar around your neck blows up and your head pops off , that was a cool movie

    No, I don't know Rutger Hauer.
    No, I don't want to see a head pop off!!!

    This guy wore a suit!! I'm 5'7" and I was eyeball with him. He was solid, about 225lbs
    and I'd say back then he was about late 30's early 40's, dark hair.
    Scared the hell out of me!!!Didn't crack a smile,just waved his head at me-like "get outta here!"

    This is from a Rockline Interview...Jan 1999
    A little VH refrence

    BC = Bob Coburn (host)
    GL = Geddy Lee
    AL = Alex Lifeson

    Joey - My question is, you guys are obviously the most innovative and creative rock writers musically and lyrically, but if you had to do a cover song, what would you cover and why?

    GL - Wow, that's a toughie.

    AL - Yeah

    GL - I haven't got the foggiest idea.

    BC - Do you ever horse around in the studio and play other people's music?

    GL - Sometimes.

    AL - Yea -

    GL - I usually end up playing Who songs -

    AL - I have a tape at home where we played a lot of different styles of music on this particular tape (laughing) and we were ad-libbing lyrics, and maybe one day, Bob, I'll play it for you

    BC - Yea, well, you know, I'll be there for it.

    AL - Then you can see if it's the kind of thing you'd want to hear on radio.

    BC - OK, that pretty well answers that. You know, it's funny because Ray Daniels is your manager, he also manages Van Halen and I got to watch them do sound check, they did about 5 Who songs in a row and just warming up and I said to Eddie, 'You should play that during the show' and he said, 'We're not paying the royalties for it'. Thank you Joey for your call, the next song we're going to play for you now, Fly By Night, is from the third CD of this 3 CD set the Hammersmith Odeon tour London 1978 I believe it was the Farewell to Kings tour as a matter of fact, this is Fly By Night on Rockline

    No real significance...but if you read the Sammy chapter 19 that was going around...this is intresting stuff. Ray Daniels...just trying to understand this person because when its all done and over, I think he will be a major character in Mikey's Book (the one he WILL eventually write about the truth of Van Halen).. so I am just surfing the net looking for odd stuff. Just bringing it to all my fellow VH friends. Take the info for whatever you want...but I WILL find something out...
