dave says not to hold your breath on a vh reunion and sam said he would like to see what he and ed could come up with now cuz sam says he is a better soongwriter now then when he was in van halen. all of this as per the usa today article which is at grant's site at www.vhnd.net

the longer this goes on, the better the odds for a sam return than dave

The "wasted years" line is something Dave has used already. In fact, the majority of his responses are word for word with other interviews he has done.

This bit was interesting, though:

"The unholy union of Diamond Dave and the Red Rocker was the byproduct of a Las Vegas casino's scheme to bring Hagar, Roth and Van Halen together for big-bucks stadium shows. Eddie Van Halen nixed it."

I guess I never noticed this being mentioned before. This is in line with some of Sammy's earlier interviews where he said that Dave contacted him after reconsidering an offer to tour from Sammy.

Unbelievable. Up until this point, what's Dave been saying over and over? "It's inevitable", "It'll definitely happen before all our clothes go out of style", etc. And now it's "Don't hold your breath"?!

Their influence on each other

Hagar: I've learned from Dave what not to do, how not to dress. He used to do one of my Montrose songs, Make It Last, before Van Halen even had a record deal. I've probably had a bigger influence on who David Lee Roth is than he's had on me.

Roth: Sammy who?

How not to dress?!?!
You're right Sammy!!
You obviously learned how to dress from some circus clowns!!

He's got a bigger ego than Dave, thinking he's
been more of an influence on who DLR is!!

Come back down to earth, Sam!!

Hmmm, and gee, how much of that BS has come from Eddie's mouth? Maybe NOT talking is better than talking shit. Let's review what we've gotten worked up about. It's been Dave and Mikey promising a reunion. Ed and Alex were smart enough to shut up and lookee lookee, nothing happened. Looks like they tried a reunion a few times, so perhaps Mike wasn't lying, but you only hear Ed talk about it AFTER it fell apart, when he wouldn't be prematurely raising hopes. The two big "fan friendly" guys are the ones getting you worked up, not Ed and Alex. Hey, maybe those two are disfunctional, but they've been consistent since, what, 1999? No news. Guess what, there hasn't been anything good to say, so why say it?

Amazing how two guys can get slammed for being right, and not saying a word. Then somebody ELSE talks shit, and they again get slammed for not making what they say come true. Dave made his own bed, he can lie in the fucker now.

This was a very sensible post, Incredible ED. I had not considered things from that angle until you brought it up.

I'd like to know how busy the boards are now. I know that I don't post here much anymore. I redirected my activity to other bands that have things going for them, and I've all but given up on VH. I will see DLR and Sam this month in L.A., but as far as VH is concerned, I'm definately no longer holding my breath for anything at all. I'll be more than happy if we hear anything from Ed and Al before the end of the year, like an announcement, or even new music, or a new singer, but in the meantime, I'm living my life.

You people wait and see, there will be a box set, with a bunch of excuses, a big whoopma da deeda doo doo day, and that'll be it. Dave won't be in the band, it'll be Sammy. After reading the USA Today article it's obvious to even Dave that it's not ever gonna happen. Sammy however is gearing it up for a big tearful reunion with Eddie. I could honestly care less anymore. I will say this though, Dave, if you want to ever have a shread of hope of making up with Eddie, shut your frickin yap about his wife. Good grief, "I'm doing a porn movie with Val Bertenelli?!!!" (I'm sure I spelled Val's last name wrong) Dave, you may as well say that you have slept with Eddie's Mom too, cause making staements like that is what we Classic VH fans would refer to as lets see uhhhhhhhh, uh counterproductive? I hope you really do like those guys that you have hired to play in your band, it's the closet you'll ever get to playing with the brothers again.

DLR said that? Porn movie with Val? I sure hope he's wearing a titanium cup. Heck, I'd be glad to kick his balls 'til tuesday!

Reunion with Sammy would bum me though. I would really rather have a new singer (a keeper this time)

Roth's exact words about a reunion..."Don't hold your breath. There's probably no possibility at this point. If Eddie is guilty of anything, it's wasting time. He's wasted years."

It does seem odd that he would say that now after saying that the reunion was inevitable. I still think Sammy won't come back even though he said it's possible. My guess is that they're going with singer #4.

Singer #4 better be ready to be scrutinized and hazed by the fans... This guy will have his work cut out for him! Good luck!

It's obvious all parties involved don't want a reunion badly enough or it would have gone down by now. I honestly don't care at this point. If Dave or Sam come back fuckin great, if Van Halen go with singer number 4 that's OK too. Bottomline I just want some new music from Ed, Al and Mike.
