Since we are all talking about songs that define VH I thought I'd open up a thread to find out what EVH solo everyone think defines him as the greatest guitarist of all time. When I say solo I don't mean Eruption or Balucharium(sp? Sorry its late and I'm to lazy to check the spelling) Anyway what does the VH forum gang think?

    Top 3?, ...

    1) When It's Love(tons of emotion)
    2) Outta Love Again(he's just talkin')
    3) Ice Cream Man(this defined him as being diverse)

You'd have to include, "You Really Got Me". As far as emotion, I find his work in "Love Walks In" quite nice also. "Eruption" was his first piece, however that baffled and awed music and guitar critics.

Baluchitherium I didn't even have to look at the album for spelling! But:

    Ice Cream Man
    I'm The One
    Atomic Punk
    Somebody Get Me A Doctor
    Romeo Delight
    Hot For Teacher
Top Jimmy(can't believe this one wasn't mentioned)
    Judgement Day
    Big Fat Money
    Aftershock

    Too many?

This is even harder than picking a definitive song for VH.

Anyway, I always come back to the Ice Cream Man solo as my favorite, and I think it fits the bill here pretty well.

But how about the extended soloing that ends Drop Dead Legs?

Ice Cream Man is also my favorite!
But one that blows me away everytime I hear it (among all VH tunes) is solo to Beat It.
It's funny how many of us don't count this as one of Ed's best works but its one fine moment of axe mastery IMO.

Yep, Icecream Man is definately my favourite solo song - always has been, always will be. Just proves that he can swing like the best of 'em and rock better than the rest of 'em!

If I remember well, Wasn't Eddie himself who said that He didn't like the solo for "Ice Cream Man", that he didn't care for that song too much, and that the solo was to elaborate for that one...anyway:

Push comes to shove(It's just unbelievable that one)
    Top Jimmy
    Feelin'
    Mean Street
ans many many more.... this is hard
