Over at darkhorizons.com they just had some VH info. It is a very reliable site for movie news so here's what they said:
Van Halen Song: The legendary band will be releasing a new album in the Fall with their first and most legendary singer David Lee Roth rumoured to be back with them. Thing is the first song released will apparently be the single "Magic Carpet Ride" which is the main track for a Fall release movie, question is which one.
I just saw that myself. I always go there for upcoming movie news. I was shocked to see Van Halen news on there. That site is almost always correct. If it is reported on Dark Horizons, then its pretty solid information. As for the single's title "Magic Carpet Ride"? I hope its not a remake of the Steppenwolf classic.

I'd rather not see them do another cover but if that's what they are going to give us fans, then I guess I'll have to be satisfied with it.
I'm a spark on the horizon.
...stayin' round here takes patience, it's like a full time occupation...
Do you guys think that it's a cover? I mean is that the exact way to spell steppenwolfs song? I dunno, though RickS has a valid point thinkin' the possabilities are endless.
That would be a trip! It would, it's like hey? VH is all grown up now! Fak, do you think reachin' for the 50's is an influence now than ever before? Lol ...
The shiat is brewin', ... FALL RELEASE!!!

Hot For Teacher
Early January 2001 - VH get copyright and publishing clearance from ASCAP for Steppenwolf's 'Magic Carpet Ride'. Now we are hearing news of a TV show or movie with VH's version. This makes perfect sense to me. There is a long instrumental section that I personally would love to hear EVH rip up! NObody else seems to think so around here, but I think VH doing some covers would be awesome, it's how they got their start and they're damn good at it!
I don't know what to believe anymore, but somehow I've convinced myself that 'Magic Carpet Ride' by VH is a reality and we'll all be hearing it fairly soon.
They call me the thread killer.
First six albums rule. In addition, the following represent the only two Y2K release in the world that are preventing me from losing it altogether waiting for the VH reunion.

It's published by BMI
Eddie is so incredibly talented and endlessly creative. He has miles and miles of ideas on tape inside his studio collecting dust. At least two or three songs get dropped off of each album. He's even able to think of songs while sitting on the pot!
Please no more cover songs, Eddie!!!
I don't buy it. The first song we hear from VH... is someone else's?
