So the Red Rocker is finally working on his autobiography. Pretty lousy timing if the DLR reunion is underway. I wonder if those 2 chapters that hit the internet were close to the truth.

I've always wondered bout those things, they just seemed kinda TOO vindictive for Sam - I know he was bitter, but..jeez LOL.

Although (if I remember right) it was an unauthorised biography, so they guy could spin things any way he wanted I guess.

Didnt Sammy sue the guy who wrote the book for him ? I remember reading a very strange article like 1 1/2 ago about this bookl and how Sam blocked the release. But havent heard anything since. What I read (the 2 chapters that made their way on the net) though were pretty intense. If true, painted a pretty ugly picture of the band.

As always who knows how much is true ??? Only the people involved.

I got a feeling those 2 infamous chapters will undergo a serious revision of history!

If those chapters were legit, I would have loved to have read the whole book. That's what's wrong with so many (virtually all) rock biographies, the get so sanitized that if you are aware of the history of a band, you just know that punches are being pulled. If you're going to write a book, tell the WHOLE story, otherwise don't bother.

That's what's so cool about the Aerosmith book Walk This Way, they just laid the whole thing out, and shattered all the myths. Hell, they even talked about how forces above them pressured them to work with "hit-maker" songwriters and how they didn't like it. Joe Perry talked about hating to do ballads, which given their recent history, you'd think he'd keep to himself. It's a great read, and I wish VH (or any member of the band) would do something similar, even though I would be amazed if they could put aside their ego's and do it.

The Beatles are the same way. You get 30 years on and they want to diminish how bad it had gotten. Hearing Paul say shit like "Yoko is cool, we just didn't understand each other at the time" is boring as hell to read, and it's just got to be innaccurate. I mean, she was ruining their livlihood and all they stood for. I want to hear Paul say "I hated her and I wanted her to be swimming with the fishes"! Tell the truth.

While not really VH related, if you're looking for a good band biography to read, check out "Bad Moon Rising" by Hank Bordowitz. It's a very interesting look at the career of Creedence Clearwater Revival from long before they were famous to the present day.

I read the whole thing over one weekend because I just couldn't put the book down.

I hope he finally does release it. I'd imagine it will be an excellent read. At this point in the game, who gives a shit if he burns on Ed , Al and Mike. Tell it like it is, they are only human. That's another reason why I liked Daves book, he basically told it like it was, or from his point of view that is. In all cases ALL parties fucked up, and just let it out for us to read. Don't suger coat that sumbitch. Out.
