Dudes, I don't think the new cd will be out until March of 2001. We might hear a new track around the holidays but that's it. The boys are going to let the re-masters soak and get us warmed up for the tour next year. These are just my feelings on the subject. This sounds like a Van Halen thing to do. They are proud of everything they release even if it's just re-mastered music. I dunno. Anyone else have any thoughts?
i personally think it'll be january. march seems too late, since the re-masters will be out on september 19. 3 months is plenty. a great way to start the new year.
i know i would!!!
i am a Dirty Faced Kid, although i do fancy myself a good lookin' fellow...

There is some guy over at the DLR. army claiming that Roth and VH are contracted to record Two albums and that one will be new material released in Feb. 2001 and a live recording of Classic VH will be released sometime after that.
I don't usually believe these "insiders" but this guy Gives some good reasons for the delay. Who knows but it seems more and more likely that we will not hear any new music until sometime in 2001.
As far as I'm aware, record companies do NOT consider a live recording as part of an artist's contract. Also, a 2-record deal is EXTREMELY rare. There are lots of one-shot deals, and a 'standard' deal is 3 (1 with 2 options). I would hope that Van Halen, with their history at WB, would be given an open-ended contract; that is, they have no schedule (other than their own), and can record/release at their own discretion. Then again, I haven't dealt with that part of the business in about 5 years, so things may have changed. If anyone else has any more info regarding current record company policies, please fill me in.
I know we all are hearing these dates like Feb. 2001 or Oct. or things like a double CD, but there is still a big part of me that wants to hear the confirmation of the singer and the actual state of the band. I get the feeling that everything is not quite solid yet within the band. I really, really hopr I am wrong and that this wait is truly just timing or legal bs.
Well our best bet to find out if it's sooner than later is to see what happens at the MTV Video Music Awards next month. If nothing there then our best bet is a long wait for next year!

Hide your sheep? What about Little Bo Peep?
'Dave, how will I know that I've made it?' I tell 'em, 'When you can spell 'subpoena' without thinking about it, you made it'
